Dubai is one of the most advanced cities in the Middle East in terms of technology and real estate. After the accomplishment of Burj al Arab, in terms of being the 2nd tallest hotel in the world and Burj Khalifa (Formerly Burj Dubai) as the world's tallest building, Dubai decides to break a record again. The Al Maktoum international Airport is planned to be the largest airport in the world, the airport was named after the late former ruler of Dubai Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
As announced the airport opened in 27th June 2010 with only one runway open and handling only cargo flights. If concluded as intended, Al Maktoum airport will have an annual cargo capacity of 12 million tons, and a passenger capacity of up to 160 million people per year. In other words it is going to be gigantic!
This airport will not only benefit Dubai in terms of trade and tourism but it will also employ a large amount of people which is a bonus for many unemployed proficient citizens all over the world.

Thank you Mariam for your article and sharing information with us, I would like to mention or maybe add my opinion if you don't mind to the last line of this article about unemployed proficient citizens all over the world (if they are Arab and not holding another foreigner citizenship) then forget about their opportunites there! they wouldn't make money enough to save, just to live. I really admire where UAE reached, look what their leaders made from that desret?? Which some countries as rich as them were busy with wars, building palaces and didn't pay attention to develp their countries and make their citizens lives peacefully happy and satisfied by their money,their shares their rights. But we also need to mention that Burj Al Arab, Khalifa, Dubai Metro Station, Palm Island, Jumeirah, and many other amazing projects there which it even looks like unreal! All made by dirt poor Indian slaves, paid for with pennies a day. Nothing in Dubai impresses me at all since I saw that documentary about how all these poor men brought from India live in places that resemble worse conditions than a concentration camp and are paid literally cents a day, at that rate I could build mansions for only a few thousands. Disgusting, nothing more disgusting than people taking advantage of the disadvantage of others.
