Sulaf Fawakherji Portrays Cleopatra
In an upcoming Ramadan series, splendid Syrian actress Sulaf Fawakherji portrays the great Egyptian queen Cleopatra. Sulaf explained that she doesn’t mind people comparing her to any of the actresses that portrayed Cleopatra in the past. Sulaf continues by saying that out of the 7 or more movies made that portrayed the life of Cleopatra only one was a success which was the 1963 movie acted by the lovely American actress Elizabeth Taylor.
Sulaf also explained that it will be hard to compare the series with any work done in the past about the life of Cleopatra because it focuses more on the oriental feminine side of Cleopatra.
Moreover, the series was filmed in Syria even though Cleopatra lived most of her life in Egypt. Sulaf explained that there are a lot of beautiful parts in Syria that can be used as the setting, and that shooting the series in Egypt will be quite expensive. She included that Cleopatra lived most of her life in Alexandria by the sea and hence that can be shot anywhere.
On another note, Sulaf discussed a bribe she got by a Syrian director to step down and not portray the part, of course the Syrian beauty queen refused.
Personally I am ecstatic that Sulaf is portraying Cleopatra, I believe that she has the beauty and the power to attract us to watch the series, just like Cleopatra used her beauty and power to rule Egypt.
What do you think; will Sulaf be able to reincarnate the story of Cleopatra into our lives?
