Binten Men Masr, Encouraging Immorality?

By H.A.R. on Jun 16, 2010

Saba Mubarak and Zeina

"Binten Men Masr" is the latest Egyptian movie causing controversy.
The movie which discusses important social issues, most importantly shedding light on the problems of unmarried women in the Egyptian society.
The movie has been accused of tarnishing the image of the Egyptian girl and encouraging obscenity and immorality!

Have you seen the movie?
What did you think?
Is there really reason to accuse the movie of being obscene?
Does the movie contain material that parents wouldn't want their children to see?
Should the movie be rated PG - Parental Guidance? Or should it be rated R, which means it contains adult material inappropriate for children under a certain age?

The movie, which premiered today in Egyptian theaters, stars Zeina and Jordanian actress Saba Mubarak.

Zeina aka Wisam Reda knows what imorality means. What imoral things she did to be where she is now?Her sister Yasmine Reda had been recently arrested for drug traffic in Egypt.

I don't know anything about the movie yet, but I can talk in general like, everything we see on movies is true... shows at least 50% of what is going on,it doesn't have to belong to us that we living it so we beleive it,surely others living it,somewhere in this wildworld, someone we may know living it,but we don't know about it, maybe our next door,or faces we see at streets, people we meet at work. We used to laugh or say come on about kind of stories at the movies or series we see and how it ends, then we get older we realize what's happening in life, and with people, it's true, it shows you what is going on, our life is a moviessss, maybe on movies they still hide stuff because of culture, policy matters,etc..etc... depends.

Movies tell a story . But don't confuse the story with real life. The truth is all Arab girls these days are whores. Egypt is putting itself out there, that's just because they rule cinema. If a country like Yemen ruled Arab cinema the movie would be called "binten min Yemen " . it's not about Egyptian girls per say it represents the Arab girls of the modern times we live in today. Egyptians shouldn't take this movie personally. Every Arab country has it's share of friendly citizens....

I should rephrase what i said: There are more and more ARAB girls today that are no longer modest and are not afraid to show that they lost their chastity. Egypt is merely bringing these ARAB females to light in this movie. showing that type of new age ARAB female that exists now a days in ALL ARAB countries. So to Mr.Waleg don't be so excited and quick to insult the egyptian female. We have one of the most religious, conservative, and modest population that exists in this world today.

You have, we have, they have, we all have different kind of girls, women and men as well (equally I would say)they are alot everywhere, everytime... and no need to take it personally, as we all know as the Arabic saying "not all your hands fingers are equal". If the movie was showing a case of a girl or a family in Egypt, it doesn't mean all girls like that,it doesn't mean it happens only in Egypt, it could happen anywhere, it just depends on the circumstances. Thank you.
