Elissa Brings Home Her Third WMA
Lebanese superstar Elissa won at the World Music Awards for the third time in her career for Best-selling artist in the Middle East for her album "Tesada2 Bemeen".
She performed the song "Tesada2 Bemeen" on stage, and then received her award and delivered a speech thanking Rotana, Walid Ben Talal, her manager Amin Abi Yaghi, her fans, and finally her mother and father.
Worth mentioning is that Lebanon is the country with the most awards in a row with Elissa winning in 2005, 2006, 2010, Mika winning 3 in 2007, Nancy Ajram with 1 in 2008 and Shakira with 1 this year.
The event was held in Monaco on the 18th of May, and is supposed to be aired soon on TV channels worldwide.
Other winners include Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Scorpions, Black Eyed Peas, Shakira, U2, Andrea Bocelli, David Guetta, Namie Amuro, Empire of the Sun, Tiziano Ferro, Michael Buble, Rammstein, Suzan Boyle, Monica Noranjo.
The event featured International guests such as Hayden Panettiere, Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Ian Somerhalder, William Moseley, Cuba Gooding Jr, Kelly Rowland, Ludacris, Pharell Williams, Deborah Cox, Michelle Rodriguez, Akon, N.E.R.D, Robin Gibb, and many others!

@Masry- Shakira is 50% Lebanese, 25% Italian and 25% Spanish.
I don't understand why people like Elissa so much. All her music is basically the same. Well, anyway congrats to her for the win.
Oh and BTW. i think its funny that everywhere else in the world everyone looks at it like whoever wins the world music award is because they earned it, but in the middle east they say they "bought" it... jealousy in its finest form.

She actually does, she came to Lebanon few years ago, and she never denies her Middle Eastern roots, u can notice that in her songs and her bellydancing..
And Mika makes a concert every year in Lebanon and he always speaks about his Lebanese roots :)

No they did not only count the 5 months of 2010, also 2009 was counted.
Amr Diab was top 1 in Egypt ONLY, he does NOT sell in Lebanon and in the gulf and other countries, only in Egypt.
Elissa is top 1 EVERYWHERE after 5 months of the album release.

Yes, I am an Amr Diab fan. And the official source for the WMA is the Arab Webiste Hitmarker..
Their latest update was on May 10 and show Elissa first after 18 weeks.
Amr is fourth in the Arab World after 41 weeks.
You do the math. :) "Only In Egypt" :D

Being fourth in the Arab World after 41 weeks doesnt mean that he was among the tops during all these 41 weeks..
And, come to Virgin Lebanon, Amr's album is not even in the top 20!
And yes Elissa's sales in 18 weeks were greater than Amr's sales in 41 weeks! :D unless you're claiming that she bought it? which also means that Amr bought it 3 times previously..

Well, Virgin Lebanon isn't the only source here. Egypt is the biggest market in the Middle East. And Rotana stated Amr was the highest selling album in the Middle East in 2009. And as I stated, the official source says it all. :D 41 weeks in the top 5, compared to 18 weeks in the Top 1.
I've got no problem with Elissa winning, congrats to her. I'm just saying that only the first 5 months of 2010 were counted. Amr was in the top 1-2 until December, and a year later is still in the Top 5.
I don't even know what we are arguing here, it is no secret that Amr Diab is the highest sellling artist in the Middle East, and no else compares really. 30 years vs... 6? :D

I don't know what your trying to argue here, really. :D It is no secret Amr is the highest seller in the Middle East (one of the highest in history of the Arab World), and is one of the legends today.
Amr was in the top 1-2 until December. Since then he has been in the top 2-4. Its been a year since the release of his album. Not 5 months or so. The math is easy, my friend. :D
As for Virgin Lebanon, as in any Virgin, it can't be taken as the official and only source of albums. And Egypt is the biggest market in the Middle East, where everyone tries to sell "big".
If you think that Elissa sold in 5 months more than Amr Diab in one year, then again, thats your opinion. But I'm sure anyone who knows a bit about the industry would think its a foolish statement, because Rotana has repeadtly stated that Amr was the highest selling album for the year.
And, I never stated Elissa bought anything really. As for Amr, he won it in 97, after Nour El Ein became a cross-over hit, there was no "Middle East" award then. :D And if we go back to 2004, Amr's Leily Nahari was the highest selling album in Rotana's history, yet Elissa won as well. So the award doesn't always mean higher numbers, of course.

Everything you stated was ur opinion and I really dont have an idea about how they calculated the sales and about the time period and NOBODY can actually know who sold more since we have no evidence, but about Leili Nhari in 2004, Elissa won the award in 2005 and not 2004 (i think Latifa won it that year).
And Elissa has been singing for 12 years now not 6 :) (just to make this clear).

waleg, LADY GAGA won 5 awards in 1 night. she won BEST world album. to focus on elissa just because she is arab is missing the point entirely.

i can't believe this how could her album beat Amr's album it's not right !!!!!!!!!!!Amr should win not her she lacks vocals and looks and her album was not thaaaaat cool!pffffff
