Everybody's waiting for the 6th Dubai International Festival, because of the array of movies and films participating this year.
The red capret is also expected to sparkle more than any previous time, with big Hollywood stars and other international celebrities.
The festival kicks off tomorrow in Dubai with the screening of the much awaited movie "Nine" starring an all-star cast; Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Penélope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Judi Dench, Kate Hudson and Sophia Loren.
Hollywood stars expected to walk the red carpet are Omar Al Sherif, Matt Dillon, Christina Richie, Many Moore and Gerard Butler, who will accept Variety Magazine's International Star of the Year award.
Arab stars also expected to attend the event are Samir Ghanim, Rania Farid Shawqi, Mustafa Fahmi, Elham Shaheen and Amr Waked among others.
This year the festival will honor "The Lady of Arabic Movies" Faten Hamama.
The closing night of the festival will see the screening of James Cameron's much awaited movie "Avatar", which is expected to make a huge buzz.
The festival also organizes the annual 'AMFAR' charity dinner, which will be attended by Queen Noor of Jordan and a number of celebrities.
The festival will go on from Dec. 9th till Dec. 16th and by then will have screened 168 movies from 55 countries.
Technically speaking, Omar Sharif isn't a Hollywood star. Well he is, but also isn't :D This is confusing.
Anyways, its funny how a country with absolutely 0 Film exprience can still mantian its own festival. The problem with Dubai is they want to do everything, even if they have absolutely no exprience doing with it.
Have we heard of a film produced by the Emirates? Or more than 5 TV series a year? No. They simply aren't an "arthouse" in the world. The only true film/tv producers in the Middle East are Egypt, followed by Syria and Lebanon, who have also had some contributions to the field. Morocco and some other North African countries also have a great artistic cinema.
