Cheb Khaled & Mohammad Mounir Defy All Odds!

khaled and mounir

An upcoming football match between Egypt & Algeria has tempers boiling and fans stressed to critical limits! But that doesn't seem to effect Cheb Khaled & Mohammad Mounir! On the contrary, the two have taken a decision that many might see as crazy!
Khaled & Mounir are holding a joint concert tonight in efforts of dispersing the idea of Mass Intolerance.

Both singers have called out to football fans to cool it and keep their sports spirits high.
They also believe that art and music can easily unit people and prove that all Arabs are brothers.

The concert, which is scheduled for tonight at the Akhbar Al Youm Academy in Cairo, is expected to attract many music lovers, but it's also expected to witness acts of violence and rioting!
Although Khaled and Mounir were warned from what might happen tonight, they insist on going ahead with their concert and insist that in music, there is no violence and Egyptians and Algerians are brethren and they're both winners.

Khaled revealed that he won't be watching the upcoming match, because he simply has no interest in football. As for Mounir, he revealed that he sees no shame in carrying the Algerian flag and he sees both teams as winners.

It's true, football is just another sport and a match shouldn't be such a serious matter! Even if it's the match that will take one of the teams to the World Cup finals.
I really hope nothing serious will happen tonight in the concert ... or both Khaled and Mounir will be very disappointed! And we'll prove once again, just how shallow we've become!

there are many french and francophone press coverage of this topic ...I am appalled by the fans insults and hatred against the opponent country...there were even fans who burned flags...hatred between the two nations seems almost ancient and visceral...

journalists don't realize how important are their remarks....I was totally ignorant that there was such hatred between Algerians and Egyptians...a football game ,as important and decisive as it may be, cannot be the cause of this outburst of hatred ...it doesn't look too good ...

will these two singers be able to calm those raging fans?...I can't help myself from thinking that they will fail...Gamal abdel Nasser and Mahmood Darwich would be extremely unhappy to hear about that hatred if they were still alive...they must be turning in their grave...

    too bad

they shouldn't be satisfied just in embarrassing any particular team...they must learn to win ...They played well against Brazil?...ok...but you must also remember that they lost by 4 to 3...anyway they aren't in a fashion show...

in my opinion the weakness of the Egyptian national team they have no players expatriates unlike the Algerian team that has almost all the players operating in European clubs...

well it hasn't been fair play from the beginning, 10 yrs ago when egypt & algeria played, egypt WON qualifying for the world cup in 1990 and the Egyptian team doctor lost his eye...so it's more of a revenge thing which is happening in egypt now, remember when el ahly's bus got stoned in tunis and the team got injured cuz they won the match...stoning buses is historically common in the arab world........anyhow it's wrong that ppl r acting this way, im with egypt im sure they will do it especially with zidan's presence and the fact that it is a home match! makes a big difference.....playing against brazil and italy, egypt made an unexpected presence, w sharaf el 3alam el 3arabi kakol.........gooo egy!!!
this won't be the last match b/w egy and alg, relations b/w the nations should not be affected by just a soccer game, after all the algerian national anthem min tal7een mohamed fawzi, it's only a soccer match 1 will win and 1 will lose.....

...What is this revenge dear friend?...that all the Algerian fans and players must also lose an eye!!!!...somehow it's the "lex talionis" which consists of fair reciprocity of crime and punishment. This law is often symbolized by the phrase eye for eye, tooth for tooth.

It's funny coz now some of u guys are doing the same as those who create conflict in the first instance, and completely overlooking what these 2 performers are attempting to do. Besides, you will never know who threw the first rock or who inflicted the first bubble of tension to open this onslaught of threatening behaviour if you weren't there. But we as a public, as fans, as supporters are mugs.

I can only tell you that it sure as hell wasnt a female! But even the females are saying '...ohI hate so & so' which is pretty amusing.

Football has a history globally of causing hooliganism and violence, in fact football hooliganism has been criminalized in much of Europe for causing so much terror, as it should be. Meanwhilst, Arabs have their priorities where criminalism is concerned since we do such an awful job at policing the basics.

I would dare not say Egypt hates Algeria or Algeria hates Egypt because of a football game. In fact speaking as an Egyptian; if you've ever ventured into Egypt then you should know that it's fair to say the only country Egypt hates is Egypt.

The real problem is the media and certain journalists who provoke the whole ordeal, they can't talk about REAL problems thanks to those whose profession begins with the letter P. I call them the mafia. So they focus so intensely and intently on ridiculous issues that inturn fill our minds with trash because we're so defeated in everything else that we are trying to accomplish as citizens. Thus we most probably use football to bash what we can't voice elsewhere.

I don't think Egypt will win.

But whoever goes through to the World Cup will be out in round 1; round 2 maximum if their lucky. So it's all pretty futile isnt it? You'll hate every team you go up against and you'll dislike whatever or whomever they represent.

It was actually the Algerian players who broke the windows from the inside, it was them who demanded the match to be postponed and their request was refused. hahaha

Algerian players are not the victims here, because there was an investigation done and it said that they were the ones who were acting, breaking windows and also, getting some pebbles/stones from near the hotel, so that it would appear that they've been attacked.

ALAIN you don't have a clue about what really happened! :) Go eat cheese for dessert :P

As i'm neither algerian nor egyptian, neither arab nor muslim i have the feeling to be objective...i do really believe that in less than 2 hours we, unfortunately, will attend to the burrial of egyptian's hope...when we are neutral we have that capacity to react with reason and not with passion...

egypt's hope is dead in algiers...Algeria must continue its trajectory to meet France in johannesburg...omg...i'm so excited...indeed we will eat them...
