Tribute for Don Hewitt Taking Place on Monday

Remember the post we made about the death of Don Hewitt? Here’s an update. CBS, the company where he worked since 1948, is planning a tribute for the man who made a big contribution in changing the news industry. He was the creator of the successful “60 Minutes.” The tribute is scheduled today, Monday, October 19, in New York City. New Yorkers can witness it at the Frederick P. Rose Hall at Jazz in the Lincoln Center. It will start at 11 am.

CBS probably wants the world to know all the good things that Don Hewitt has done. To many, he is only the man who created an award-winning show; however, those who are really close to him know that he is more than that, and that is what they want to share in the memorial service. Those who will speak in the service are CBS CEO Les Moonves, “60 Minutes” Executive Producer Jeff Fager, “60 Minutes” Correspondent Morley Safer, “Sesame Street” creator Joan Ganz Cooney. Some of Don Hewitt’s family members and close friends will also be speaking.
