Over hundreds of years, Mecca preserved its beauty and charm until recently, when tall buildings starts to surround the Haram mosque from every corner making Al Kaaba look so small and less viewable from the distance as it used to be in the past.
Lots of important historical buildings were lost during the extension plans of the Haram that took place during the past years without any consideration to the importance of such important buildings such as the house of Al-Arqam...

All this is nothing compared to the the new leaked extension plans which will result in removing part of the current Ottoman arcs of the Haram mosque!
Watch this video and let us know what do you think?
Oh My God! This is SO ugly!!! Ya Haram ...
I think Mecca design should stay wht it is it doesn't need to be changed and plus i agree it would look so ugly. because then u can't spot mecca because it would look so small.
nooo, it should stay the way it is!!, whyyyy....bad design reaally!
redesign is called for for heath and logistical reasons...there is no love loss/care for ottoman preservation on part of the saudis. reminding the saudis of the ottoman period is like reminding the lebanese that they were once syrian and we all know how that would go!
so kudos for SA with its renewal/health project!
its a great new design more space to fit the increasingly growing amount of Muslim around the world.
Personally I think it's complete rubbish to expand the Haram.
It's a sacred place and we need to make it more exclusive and less commercial and accessible.
Before only the very very able or healthy or rich or religious would do hajj and it was an honour. now everyone is doing it and like everything that is abundant in suppy, it suffers loss of value.
yes, we do not value our Haram as much as our grandfathers used to. It's become a tourist hotspot.
What also really bugs me is how many idiots do hajj more than once. That's so haram on many fronts. We should limit hajj to 0.5 to 1million only. Stop the expansion.
Why not pay for a proper airport? Jeddah airport is (with all due respect) pathetic.
