Ehki Ya Shahrazad, Mona Zaki's Latest Movie

mona zaki in ekhi ya shahrazad

Mona Zaki stars in the controversial new movie Ehki Ya Shahrazad, this is the first appearance for Mona since two years where her last appearance was in Taymor and Shafiqa. It is directed by the famous Yusri Nasrallah.

Ehki Ya Shahrazad talks about very sensitive issues concerning the roles of women in the Egyptian society. This personally I think is a realistic issue that should be talked about freely.

However many of the so called Mona Zaki fans didn’t support Mona at all in this movie. The criticized her and criticized her husband Ahmad Helmi for letting her star in such a movie. All of this was due to the erotic scenes between Mona and fellow Co-star Hassan Alradad. Where he is seen kissing Mona Zaki’s neck and so on.

I understand the reason why many people are against Mona Zaki because of this role. But eventually Mona is an actress she cannot always be the cute girl that is saved by the hero. This is an issue that is occurring every day, all over the world. Mona Zaki’s true fans should not be her critics but her supporters!

What do you think of Mona's latest role?
Is it normal for an actress to take on such a role or is this not what you would expect from
a respectable actress as Mona Zaki?

actually only less than 50 years back, even if you live in the US, a married women in such a seen is considered obscene!

Sorry cupcake, but you're wrong. In the U.S these kinds of scenes are normal and are not considered obscene. In fact, the only thing that may be considered obscene here would be if the actors were being intimate for real (some films have actually showed that but they are very frowned upon). Come on guys, She's an ACTRESS. What's the point of acting in films if you aren't going to show ALL aspects of life INCLUDING intimacy. Showing just a couple with no physical contact between them is unrealistic. People in life do this all the time, why all of a sudden it's a problem because it's on a screen? Guys, THIS ISNT REAL. Movies are as professional as they can get. There are no real feelings involved. Just the feelings that they act out in the film. I'm sure Mona's husband understands that her real feelings are with him and not a fellow ACTOR. THEY ARE MAKING A FILM, which is really just an immitation of real life, isnt it?

Well first of all even if she made those scenes in real, well thats her life and its not our thing to judge. But in this case, she is ACTING....where is the problem here?

I cant see any problem if she is doing this i real so how if she is acting?

uh WALEG, do you realize that you kept mentioning that the movie is tackling serious issues facing women today but you never really wrote what these issues were? i mean how are we to tell if this erotic scene was a necessity in the movie or just an outright stupid directorial addition that could have been eliminated if we don't know what the topic of the movie is in the first place?

No sisi, this is mona zaki.
I believe that mona is an amazing actress and I do think that an actor should have the audacity and the ability of doing any thing that the role they accepted requires as long as it's not harming him/her or offending anyone. As for Ahmed Helmy' giving her permission do do this scene, I think he was a terrific husband and I think that none should blame anything on him because he was just being a good husband trying to let his wife choose what she wants. You people need to take things less seriously when it comes to things that doesn't relate to you or affect you in anyway. But what can I say, arabs are always seeking ways to try to find scapegoats and blame them for everything.

To all people that says she should not do this kind of movies, well first of all she is an actor that's her job. As Mariam wrote she can not stay in the phase of being the sweet girl she has to go forward. Trying diffrent kind of charctars (?) so she can grew as an actor.
Personlly i love her , and if her man approves it and is ok with it then why should she not do it. And for the last time she is an ACTOR.

lol at all of the comments and im sure thats what brad pitt told jennifer anniston when he was doing mr and mrs smith with angelina jolie, the thing is that yes she is an actor but she is also human who is open to temptation so is her supposed husband who "gave her permission" man if this was any normal husband he would be out of his skin with rage and jealousy. Yeah this view might be out dated by a lot of peoples standards but its the truth and it comes down to being human these people are not robots who don't experience feelings like everyone else so the argument that she is an actor have no basis. And btw who said that we have to measure ourselves by what western standards are to be deemed modernised?

OK well 2 b fair we can't really say unless you've seen the movie coz the picture is outa context sometimes films have seductive scenes where there is just no need for them, so I guess we'll have to see the film first to see and if its an important part of the film well shes an actress and can choose what to accept and what not to and its only really fair for her supporters to comment on the acting coz at the end of the day she is an actress and its her job to be part of a team to make a good realistic movie and get a message across to viewers!

we can't judge before watching the whole movie, if the film really discusses an important issue and those erotic scenes are to support this issue then mona zaki will not be blamed, but i think that the film is not carrying any new message.

p.s. i do respect any opinion different from mine,,,
BUT as a christian,, I don't support any movie scene that has any kind of sexual context,,
coz i c it violating God's creation,,, God created our bodies & God created sex,,, to be used in appropriate ways & appropriate places.
& the ONLY appropriate context where sex is blessed by God is MARRIAGE,,, & sex doesn't mean intercourse,, it means any kind of intemacy like kissing or touching or whatever.
we all do mistakes,, no one has the right to judge anyone,, but we all have the right to judge wrong actions.
i won't judge Mona Zaki, i respect her coz she is the creation of God's hands,,but i do JUDGE & CONDEMN the action of putting any kind of sexual scene in any movie...

    Dear Marie,
i don't know u said "shame on u" on me or on the lady who wrote this article,
i didn't say anything wrong on anyone so that i wld b insulted...
    anyways,,,,
i didn't defend the oppressors nor did i attack mona zaki,,,
i didn't c the movie, but i heard its story, & i really liked the idea, & i think if i c the movie i will like it,,, but my opinion is that ANY movie can b done without sexual scenes,,, ANY movie,,,
i've seen alot of movies with scenes like that,,, & every movie with such a scene, i find the director come up & say "this scene was a must so that the idea of the movie wld reach the people" & honestly ya marie ALL of these movies i find that the sexual scene can b removed & the idea & msg of the movie will not b affected AT ALL...
& as i said in my 1st comment, i don't judge mona zaki,,, no one has the right 2 judge anyone,,, but i have the complete right to say my opinion in any situation,,,

& btw,,,, as a lady,,, i won't feel happy if a man other than my husband kisses me or touches me,,, either if i'm married or not...
& i won't feel happy either if i c my husband kissing or touching another woman...

God created life & created us & our feelings in a certain way,,,
& even athists don't accept killing, steeling & adultry...

FIRST OF ALL LEBANESE PEOPLE SHOULDN'T BE READING THIS BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST IN DEMAND OF CONDUCTING ACTIONS, THAT INTERACT AMONG AMERICANS AND THEY JUST WANT TO BE SO MODERN AND LIKE AMERICANS. OK, SO THIS IS MY OPINION, I THINK JUST BECAUSE AMERICANS AND MODERN PEOPLE HAVE "CHEESY" SCENES, EMBEDDED INTO A MAJORITY OF THEIR MOVIES, THAT EGYPTIAN MOVIES SHOULD TOO! EGYPTIANS ARE NOT AMERICANS OR PEOPLE FROM WHAT WE CALL "THE MODERN WORLD", EGYPTIANS HAVE THEIR OWN CULTURE THAT DOESN'T ALLOW SUCH A SCENE, AND A SCENE LIKE THE SCENE MONA ZAKI STARRED IN IS JUST NOT APPROPRIATE TO EGYPTIAN SOCIETY, I THINK I'M STARTING TO HATE MONA ZAKI NOW. WELL THIS IS A QUESTION I WOULD'VE ASKED MONA ZAKI: DO YOU ONLY THINK ABOUT MONEY WHEN YOU CHOOSE A ROLE, OR DO YOU THINK ABOUT YOUR RELIGION, CULTURE AND SOCIETY.

    ARE YOU REALLY THAT STUPID

the movie would have conveyed it message without such an errotic scene. do u think that when people snog and touch one another can't feel that? sure they do; they enjoy it under that veil of acting. it is the same feeling we get from our husbands or wives. some would sau that she loves her husband. yes i agree that she might be in love with him, but this does not mean at all that she or he can't enjoy those errotic scenes. sometimes we can be in love with sb, but we like to sexual raltions with others nd no one can deny it nd who does, he or she can mahe a research about that. when we love sb we love them mainly for their personality not 4 their physical appearance, which is less involved. thats why i say that allowing ur husband or wife to be involved in such scenes can lead to her liking to be touched nd teased by sb else nd at that time ur relationship will break down. am not speaking nonesense, but during the history things like these happened. a man who lets his wife do such things doesn't love her cos jealousy is the main sign if love. i might seem traditional nd out of date but the facts i mentioned are true, but we try to hide them claiming modernism at the expense of our religion traditions nd culture. i lost my respect 4 that actress. sorry the length.

    Hi everybody,

I think that some of the above critics are going out of context.

Our wonderful actresses in Ehki Ya Shahrazad are trying to convey a message related to Arabic women and they are doing it wonderfully.

Please stop judging on details and look at the big picture.
