Over nine days, people enjoyed music from around the world at the annual Moroccan festival, The Mawazine world music festival.
But, the festival ended in disaster after a a wire fence collapsed in a stadium where over 70,000 spectators were packed.
They all panicked and that resulted in a deadly stampede that left 11 dead!
The tragic incident happened on Saturday night, when spectators were packed into the Hay Nahda stadium to see Morrocan singer Abdelaziz Stati.
It's a pity that such a thing happens at the end of a successful festival that put Rabat on the map of world music festivals.
Arab singers that participated in the festival included Kathem AlSaher, Najwa Karam, Wardah, Melhem Barakat and Hussein AlJasmi, just to name a few.
This year, Kylie Minogue, Khaled, Alicia Keys and Steve Wonder were among the International participants.
Too bad it had to end this way, and too bad those people died for that man who calls himself a 'singer'! But what else can we expect, just see the singer and you know what kind of an audience he has.
Anyway, again, they did not have to die
Allah Yer7amhoum
i completely agree with Maghrebi from Belgium, Allah yerhamon but really, people dont seem to understand that this soo called singer is exactly the same us us, so there is no need to go and show that massive amount of support and go that crazy just for some pathetic singer..i hope other people learn from this incident ..iA
Yeah , Too sad .. !
