A granny who can still flex her body like an 18-year old gymnast?! Amazed? It’s real!
Bette Calman of Australia can still do more flexing than what an average young can do. This 83-year-old grandma is a yoga instructor for 40 years. This experience has given her superb flexibility and most importantly, good health that majority of her peers lack already. If you doubt her ability you should just see the photos of the difficult maneuvers that she can still perform. Some of these moves were the peacock pose which involved holding up her whole body with only her two hands as support. She can also do a headstand, the raised lotus, and the bridge pose without any trouble. Wow!
And there’s no indication that Mrs. Calman is going to give up yoga any time soon. She said, “You’re never too old. The body is a remarkable instrument. It can stretch and stretch, and get better all the time. Forget age.” Until now she teaches up to 11 classes each week.
Mrs. Calman started doing yoga in the 1950s. She managed yoga centers for 33 years and she also appeared on TV in the 1970s.
Mrs. Calman can be a great inspiration for anyone who wants to grow gracefully with age. And that makes me think… maybe I should start yoga too so that I can avoid bodily aches and pains when I’m at that age already.
Well, aren’t you inspired by this superbly flexible grandma?
