The latest health scare around the world is a new kind of flu called 'Swine Flu' and it might be a bigger threat that the famous Bird Flu.
Humans contracted the flu from pigs and the domino effect started from there!
The first cases of Swine Flu appeared in both Mexico and The U.S. but it seems it's spreading quiet quickly to other continents!
Israel, Brazil, The UK, France and New Zealand are currently investigating unconfirmed cases, and the first cases in Canada and Spain were confirmed yesterday.
Today, the European health commissioner recommended against the travel to both The U.S. and Mexico.
Mexico is the epicenter of the illness and has seen 103 deaths and it seems that an additional 1,614 cases have been reported in the country.
What exactly is Swine Flu? Here's a simple summary:
It is a contagious respiratory disease that affects pigs. It is caused by a type-A influenza virus. Outbreaks in pigs occur year-round. The current strain is a new variation of the virus, which is a mix of human and animal versions.
When the flu spreads among people, instead of from animals to humans, it can continue to mutate, making it harder to treat or fight off because people have no natural immunity.
The symptoms are similar to the common flu. They include fever, lack of appetite, coughing, runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
you can catch the virus when an infected person coughs or sneezes around you. People can become infected by touching something with the flu virus on it and then touching their mouth, nose or eyes.

Pork, now ? I don't eat it at all, but it's quite scary, first the beef, then the chicken, now the pork. What's going on ? Maybe it's a matter how we treat those animals. I'm thinking more and more to become a vegeterian.

Its apparently spreading worldwide. Israel said it has a few cases, Lebanon has none as of now but it did put a ban on all fresh pork imports except for canned pork as of now. Who knows what will happen... Atleast Tamiflu and the other flu medication work alright on it, making symptoms milder.
I heard Japan isn't letting in any American tourists into the country until they screen them one by one.. I guess it is good precaution because it would spread so quick there due to the large densely populated cities.
Plus, as for people saying about the pig. They haven't fully confirmed it came from pigs, because it may be a mutated avian one that infected a pig. Also you cannot catch it from eating pork as far as they know but countries are still taking precautions from fresh pork because it may be on it.
At any rate, hopefully it passes by and no more cases happen!
