Ashton Kutcher Against CNN in a Race for Millionth Follower

Ashton Kutcher Vs CNN

A new war has been waged... not the kind you think though. The war has begun between actor Ashton Kutcher and CNN as to who will beat who for the one millionth mark on Twitter. It is already a close fight between the two. On the last update CNN takes on first place with 969,843 followers while Kutcher has 956,034. There’s still a huge difference to bridge but I’m sure it’s not going to take long before the gap close in as the race gets more serious. In fact, Kutcher posted a video on youtube urging his fans to support him in his race against news network CNN.

It was Kutcher who started the challenge when he saw the number of followers they both have. CNN didn’t back down on the challenge.

You might be wondering why Kutcher is doing this. The statement he made in his video says it all, “When I saw that I was approaching a million and that CNN was too, I thought this was really significant for social media. For one person to have the ability to broadcast to many people as a major media network, I think signifies the turning of the tide from traditional news outlets to social news outlets.”

Who do you think is going to win? I’m all for Ashton Kutcher! If he wins,Ted Turner is going to donate money to purchase 10,000 anti-mosquito, bed nets for African families to fight the spread of malaria. Aside from that, there are also goodies waiting for the one who becomes Kutcher’s millionth follower. Electronic Arts already said that it will make the winner in the upcoming game The Sims 3, and also receive free EA games for 2009!

So, who are you going to follow now?

Update:
Ashton Kutcher is the first person account on Twitter to reach 1 million followers and so he is the winner of the contest against CNN.
