Last Sunday’s episode on the Family Guy show may have reopened wounds for First Lady Laura Bush; wounds that are better forgotten because of their deep and serious roots. Family Guy showed an episode entitled “Laura Bush Killed a Guy”. Its opening scene was of Peter and Lois Griffin in a Laura Bush get-up and a man with tire tracks all over his body. During that scene Peter kept repeating, “Laura Bush killed a guy.” People who don’t know what he was talking about were certainly surprised; as I was when I read about this piece of news. It seems that Laura really did kill man way back in 1963 when she was just 17 years old; however it all happened by accident.
According to the reports of the incident, Laura sped past a stop sign and collided with another vehicle. The impact may have been that strong because the driver of the other vehicle, 17-year-old Michael Dutton Douglas, died. It was also said that the man had been her boyfriend that time. When it happened in 1963, the accident did not receive much attention and it just eventually died down.
And now, Family Guy had to revive it, for what purpose? Well, it could be they want to discredit the Bush family. But, we don’t really know. What’s plain to see though is they did that particular episode in bad taste. A tragic incident like it is better left alone because there’s not only one person involved. The episode only served to reopen wounds and painful memories for the families that suffered the loss.
Did you see the episode? What can you say about it?
