Patriotic, Humane or Just Nauseating?

As always when a tragedy happens in the Arab world- Iraq, the July war on Lebanon and now Gaza- You get celebrities rushing to condemn it in their own way and then go on to continue with their TV shows, concerts or whatever some of them do in the name of 'art'...

Well one popular form of expressing themselves is songs, you know when you get some singer spouting some corny lyrics and displaying an expression of pain over the tragedy, but ends up looking constipated and in dire need of a nutritionist.

A lot of you said how useless these songs are, and I have to agree. What irks me is when they sit there for the press photos with a big smile on their faces during the recording- Talk about forgetting their pain- as if saying to the cameras 'look at me look at me, I am so righteous'. I remember during the recording of "Al Dameer Al Arabi', seeing them all with big smiles and doing small talk during their PR stunt; Asala was hanging to her husband for dear life, something she still does ( really cut it out woman, it was cute when you first got married but now it is sad and annoying!)...

I think some of them can easily afford to at least donate half of their earnings for the past year, and no need for any more songs about unity and the need to speak out against the injustice; The market is flooded with them.

OH finally! Someone agrees with me! It's so annoying, there are so much songs, that are absolutely useless on tv! Instead of paying several thousand dollars to produce that song, why dont they donate the money to humanitarian aid for gaza!
It's sad how they think they're making a difference, which they are 100% not! And just as Sil said, they smile for the cameras and make small talk with their crew. They're doing this for the fame, so people can think that they're so humane.
"you know when you get some singer spouting some corny lyrics and displaying an expression of pain over the tragedy, but ends up looking constipated and in dire need of a nutritionist."
I loved that line and it's absolutely true! they have a sad look on their face, which SCREAMS fake!

Al Dameer Al Arabi was really horribly edited. It was one of the worst videos ever.

Arabs should stop making these songs and go to Gaza and help if they really care!

i dnt get wats wrong with singing for countries that have war.
i mean watelse can a singer do??
if the presidents who r the actual ones in charge of solving this mess, wat can the celebrities do.
i think that these songs r relly gd in expressing hw u feel and showing sympathy for gaza.
instead of singing ba7ebek w bamoot feik w maba3ref shu .they make songs for gaza. an i think thats the appropriate thing.i no that it wont do much help to the ppl in gaza. but thats the only way to express themselves and at the same time protest and donate akiid.
im sure that if i got the chance to go fight for gaza, i would, and im sure others wud,but wen the only thing we cn do is protest ,donate and watch the news.. i guess theres nuthin else in our hands except to pray for peace.
so to round it all up i think that theres nothing wrong with makin music for gaza.its not corny ,its touching.
and i dont get wats wrong with it.
especially tamer 3ashors song, and many other songs which i listen to for my country palestine.
its always nice to listen to this stuff instead of listening to howa da and laik el wawa ?!

    3a kol 7al, alla y3en ahelna be gaza, w nshala te5las hal 7arb 3an areeb.
    w alla yhed el yahood

    Falasteen,

There is nothing wrong with these kinds of songs, but there are singers like Marcel Khalifa, Julia Boutros etc, that do it because of their convictions and there are the likes of today's 'singers' that do it for the press ( ok now I have done my deed against injustice ) and then go on to sing their "mesh 7ansak bla bla bla "...

silvana. i dont care why they do it .
as long as they sang ,and it was a gd song an became a gd hit and they expressed it in their own way theres nuthin wrong with it. lik alaa zalzali 'e7na mesh erhaby ' ,it was a real gd song..then he continued n sang other songs lik dal3ona. i mean wats the big deal.
as long as he/she doesnt make concerts throughout this period , i find nuthin wrong with the whole deal.i mean watelse can a singer do except sing and donate??
i no wat u mean ,, lik 1 day they sing for palestine the next day their singing ba7ebek w bamot fek .. nw thats wrong.but wen they sing a song for war, and delay concerts n stuff lik that . nw thats right.
3a kol 7al ppl . shu ne3malon ya3ni . lets not make a huge deal bout it, wen the actual huge deal is about wats happening in gaza at the moment.
waleg, can u plz put p m7md qwaiders song 4 gaza here. cuz i wna lisn to it.
    thx heaps.
