Beauty is in The Eye of The Beholder

miss Egypt and Lebanon in miss world 2008

And never judge people on their looks because it is what is inside that counts, phrases repeated over and over again because let us face it they make a lot of people feel better about themselves and are true to a large extent; Well unless you are supposed to be a beauty queen, you do have to have at least some semblance of beauty especially when you are to represent your country in international pageants.

Unfortunately that was not the case with two so-called recent representatives of Lebanon and Egypt in Miss Earth and Miss World respectively. When I saw their pictures, I thought "Hello how big was their WASTA?"; Actually I thought of a lot of meaner things but the main point is they suck.

They put themselves in a position to be criticized on their beauty, and believe me a lot of the comments thrown at them by so-called pageant fans were not flattering to them or to the countries they represent.

I really think our countries should stop sending girls all together to these pageants anyway, because first of all even the most beautiful girls hardly place so can you imagine these two ever placing, secondly it is a waste of money and thirdly these contests serve no purpose whatsoever.

    Hello Sil,

I'm very happy you brought up this subject because I think that it is a topic that has a lot of depth. I do not agree with a lot of your comments. The one thing I do agree on is that these representatives were embarrassing. But when you look at the big picture, you have to realize that our women are not prepared well enough to take on these pageants.

Many countries, especially the North Americans and Latin's, spend a huge amount of money on preparing their respective delegates. Beauty pageants are taken more serious in the western world because they are a money making industry, and promote countries well.

I don't think that organizations that organize the pageants in Lebanon and Egypt don't know what they are doing, but they just don't have the means to show what the Middle East has to offer. The young lady who represented Lebanon in Miss Earth was not appointed by the Miss Lebanon Organization of LBC. Rosarita Tawil is the official Miss Lebanon who represents Lebanon internationally. She competed in Miss World 2008 in South Africa and was a huge favorite. She is currently preparing herself for Miss Universe 2009, which is rumored to take place LIVE on NBC from Las Vegas, Nevada, USA in August.

In my opinion, if pageants were taken more seriously in the Arab World, then we would have more success. I know it is impossible for every Middle Eastern girl to compete based on tradition, but the girls who are able, especially in Lebanon, should!

Hi guys! Myname is Eduard, 33, i'm from Sweden and i love Middle Eastern countries, culture, people. But i remember a comment when a beautiful blond with white skin won Miss Egypt. There were rumours saying that she doesnt represent Arab beauty... Ok, now looking at those pictures...Are there girls beautiful enough to represent Arab beauty? Nooo way, they are not...I thought the girl from Egypt is a travesti... And for the ones who are saying (and they know well) that European girls are just cute, not beautiful..let me explaine to you, maybe you did'nt travel and i dont blame you for that...you are still young and you have time. When u say this dont mention all Europe. Go and visit Central and East European countries and see there, all kindes of beauty! Blond hair, very white skin, very light colour eyes and also dark hair, brown/ white skin, dark brown/black eyes or light coloured eyes. You must be idiot to think that all European girls or East european are all blonde...+ 90% of them are natural beauties face, body, whatever...they are not plastic dolls (i dont talk about the artists on tv)Dont get me wrong, i like Arabic girls alot, but the natural ones, not the plastic ones. All the best to everybody!

lmfao, i dont get the whole behind this, why does it matter so much? why do people actually watch this s*** ? these girls are nothing but low self esteemed girls who want to win a stupid pagend to feel good about themselves.

i really do believe that its whats on the inside that counts. we are all bautiful in out own way...we shouldn't be judged based on our looks, and dont tell me about the questions that they ask you to prove that you have a good personality because i really dont think that if you are "ugly" they would let you in, now would they?

take a second to think about it. why go through all of this to be crowned as some barbie doll? isn't it enough to feel good on the inside?

lebfan, taking it seriously? like what? what is there to take seriously? I would say that a show that actuallt tests your mental ability or any other skill is better than this whole thing.
