When we think of Cleopatra, we think a queen, a goddess, a beautiful woman with the face of Hollywood's beauty Elizabeth Taylor ... We may be right about a lot of things, but she's nothing like Liz!
A new image of the Egyptian queen has been pieced together from images on ancient artifacts in ancient Egypt show Cleopatra as a dark-skinned, young woman of mixed ethnicity.
Many artifacts dating back to Cleopatra's time, show that the queen has a shallow forehead, pointed chin, thin lips and hooked nose ... not really Liz Taylor-eqsue!
This photo make more sense than imagining her as Liz Taylor! especially that most Egyptian have dark skin (not black, i mean 'sumur')!
Cupcake
yes but she wasn't really egyptian but of greek descent so I don't think she was like ancient egyptians i.e dark-skinned
most greek people have hooked noses so its no surprise.
she looks like a cypriot greek more.
Why on earth do these idiot boffins; who obviously have nothing better 2 do, insist on taking away any 'mystery' we have of history & histories enigmas. And no I never even associated Cleo with Liz Taylor- she only acted the the part in a 50's Hollywood movie, so did Vivien Leigh & better! That silly plastic, play-dough animation looks like something out of 'Wallace & Gromit'. Jesus was wrongly portrayed by 'modern technology' too- like something out of Shrek...& how many times has he been portrayed...each time differently. sheesh enough it enough already. Talk about knowing how to ruin a persons imagination!
correction-enough is enough :o}
This is interesting! :P
WOW IT SEEMS THAT YOUR IMAGINATION IS RUINED BECAUSE HER SKIN IS DARK
I totally agree with you sam, and I just wanted to add that not because liz played cleo in the 50 we have to assume she looks like her (before we see that image), the spectators are mature enough to understand that liz is only playing the role (the character)... why to we even always associate seduction with beauty,, there might be a correlation but no causation.. she might have seduced them with her intelegance or character.. finally even this image isn't ugly, it's only because it's a computarized 3-d with the eys=es poping out, therefore it might look wicked but if even liz's image was done this way after 2000 years the coming generations will say how come ppl in the 20th century considered her pretty.. happy holidays everyone !!!
