Tonight South Africa, Johannesburg held Miss World 2008. It was an event with so much culture involved a taste of Africa that brought 109 nations together. 109 beautiful women from around the world competed for the title.
As a Lebanese living in South Africa I was glad to see a Lebanese participant, as well as an Egyptian participant. Two ladies from the Arab world took part, but unfortunately neither was chosen for the semi finals...
There were 15 girls who were chosen, Miss, Trinidad-Tobago, Angola, Russia, South Africa, USA, India, Kazakhstan, Mexico, and 7 others...
The first 5 girls were chosen before the show, this time they had a twist they held various events to help chose the first 5 semi finalists and they were as follows, miss top model, miss sports, miss best designer dress and miss charity, and miss talent.
Honestly speaking, I wasn't impressed by the judges’ choices, there were far better girls who could have stood in the top 15.
After a few reportages on how the girls spent their time in Johannesburg, it was time to announce the top 5, and it was really shocking because they weren't the best there were; miss India, Miss South Africa (who was there just because the event was held in her homeland), Miss Russia, Miss Angola, And Miss Trinidad-Tobago. They answered a question each, I liked Miss India's answers mostly and Miss Trinidad’s as well as they were really smart answers. Miss Angola didn't know what she was saying.
Miss South Africa’s answer was so lame and too vein. As for Miss Russia she had a translator as she doesn’t speak a word of English but overall her answer was short and smart.
The night came to its end and the winner was announced.
2nd runner up: Miss Trinidad-Tobago
1st runner up: Miss India
Congratulations to this year's Winner Miss Russia, Ksenia Sukhinova.
She was the best out of the 15 girls who competed for the title, so she really deserved to win.
What a fun night it was.
Hard luck to all the 109 girls you all are very intelligent, beautiful young women!

like to know how come miss India get a longer to speak and miss Trinidad get lest then miss India to speak i think they cheat miss Trinidad.... miss Trinidad and miss India answer was the best ... i still don't understand how Miss Russia, won her answer was so poor ? I've lost all faith in Miss world. the the whole world know they cheat miss Trinidad ..and they are watching.... it was on radio this morning what they did to Miss Trinidad .
issues with the bias unmannerly male host who clearly was supporting miss south Africa. this man had no manners whatsoever.. he just pulled away the mic from Trinidad mid sentence..... it was shocking not to mention rude!!
they should do a RECOUNT... they will never do a recount Because if they do one and they found out there was a mistake they will feel ashamed and ever one will be laughing at Miss world
