A Glimpse about President Barack Obama

Wouldn't you want to know a bit more about the new President of The United States?
Wouldn't you want to know a bit of background information about the first black president in The White House?
Barack Hussein Obama jr. was born on August 4th, 1961 in Hawaii to Barack Hussein Obama, sr. an immigrant from Kenya, and Ann Dunham, a white American.
His parents got divorced when he was only 2 and his mom remarried in 1967 and moved to Indonesia with her Indonesian husband Lolo Soetoro.
Barack jr. moved back to the states when he was 10 and lived with his maternal grandparents in Hawaii.
Obama has a BA degree in Political Science from Columbia University and a Law degree from Harvard.

He taught Law at the University of Chicago Law School for twelve years and was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1996 and was reelected in 1998 and 2002.
In 2004 Obama ran for the U.S. Senate and was sworn in as a Senator in January 2005.
February 2007, Obama announced his candidacy for President of the United States and clarifies that his top 3 priorities were to rapidly end the Iraq War, increase energy independence and provide universal health care.

I guess you know the rest of the story ... leading up to November 4th 2008, when he won the elections against John McCain and became President elect Obama!
Obama is scheduled to be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States on January 20, 2009.

Obama is married to Michelle Robinson, whom he met in 1989 and has two daughters, Malia Ann and Natasha "Sasha".

If you're wondering about his religious background, like i did a while ago, here's the real deal; Obama said in his book 'The Audacity of Hope' that he "was not raised in a religious household". His father was raised a Muslim but was an atheist by the time he married his mother, who was as he puts it 'detached from religion'.
Even his stepfather is described as "a man who saw religion as not particularly useful".
Obama now is a Christian and was baptized in 1988 at Trinity United Church of Christ.

Seriously, I am very happy that a job like his is going to be handle by a cool, multicutural, highly educated, smart, open minded and handsome gentleman who will show (I hope) to all the xenophobes/racists/fanatics what the true values of democracy are.
