George Wassouf Arrested in Sweden!

George Wassouf

A couple of our friends have sent us some breaking news over this past week-end concerning Syrian singer George Wassouf.
Wassouf was in Sweden to hold a much awaited concert in Stockholm, where thousands of his fans from around Europe flied in to see him perform.
Unfortunately and to the surprise of his fans, the concert was canceled and the fans were left standing and waiting for nothing all night!
The question is: Why was the concert canceled?
Well, Wassouf was arrested by the Swedish police and dragged out of his Sheraton suite to the slammer after being caught with 30 grams of cocaine!
Yes, believe it! This ain't no rumor!

At the moment, Wassouf is being held in the custody of the Swedish police until further notice!
Although his fans got disappointed and mad, the got consolidated after being told that they'll be getting their money back.

I don't know what to say really, except that not only did Wassouf make a fool out of himself, but out of his fans and out of Arabs! We don't appreciate what you've done George!

Thanks to our friends Mohammad and Jessica for the heads up on this story.

George Wassouf is not Lebanese, he is a syrian low life scum, wanted in Lebanon for weapons posession and drug rage while shooting at cars from his Beirut flat.
He should have no fans, he is not human and his voice sucks
He belongs behind bars, get used to it....
Please dont glorify him...EVER, he is NOBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Foomon, you are the low life scum, if he has no fans then why was the concert sold out! If he has no voice then why does he give sold out performances and is considered one of the best tarab singers ever? One of you said that he doesn't look good anymore, which means the people come to his concerts not because of his looks, but because of his voice. More than half the people who come to see Haifa want to see Haifa half-nude..they can care less about her voice, because it's obvious she has no voice. Whereas the people who come to see George Wassouf, they come to hear his voice only; if it wasn't for his voice he wouldn't have become what he is today.

Does he have issues concerning drugs? sure , but that doesn't mean you demean him in such a nasty and ugly way that only lebanese are capable of doing and are known for.

I am not syrian nor lebaneese so i am not going to start with that because nationality has nothing to do with bad behavior, its the individual himself. This guy has a talent for sure because thousands of people just adore him around the arab world, i personally dont like his style or voice but i like some of his songs, but what i really hate about him is that he is wasting all his money and fame on drugs, he is known for years as a drug addict and you can tell from his face and the way he talks, he is sick and he needs major help, addiction can not be cured with medication like other diseases he has to go to rehab and stay there for a while, he is making fool of himself and he will lose alot of fans by keeping this stupid behaviour.

its soooo funny how george wassouf was a lebanese throughout his successfull career, and now that he was caught with cocaine and sent to jail, he's a syrian? well i understand his father is syrian, but y not give them credit and call him a syrian when hes mentioned as one of the best singers in arab history?? y call him a syrian now?? loll u lebanese crack me up!!!

    Hey George
Dont get all bent out of shape, you don't even know if i am Lebanese or Syrian, OR... maybe BOTH, Wassouf did not represent Syria as he should, he didn't represent the artists' society of the Middle east and the youth of the Arab world for what they are, BIG MISTAKE for your role model, i feel more proude with Haifa represting the above, Hands down Haifa rules... not to forget the long list of respected and more talented artists from Lebanon,Syria and the Gulf.
Nancy travels North Africa and Europe, and fans treat her with full respect, i am honored when she represnt me, i am honored to be represented by Fairouz, Assala, Kazem and Hakeem :) MA MAN. But NEVER this low life SCUMBAG, i do feel bad for people with drug issues i know that it is is a sickness, and he is very SICK, i dont feel bad for those who know about there drug issues and yet they carry on hurting others
May he rot in a nice Sweedish Jail rather then a Syrian Jail, Don't say i am not nice :)

This is the prize you pay when you get famous so young, you get used by people who take advantage of your youth and impressionability. He has an amazing voice, the best songs but he does belong in rehab... Many stories always come out about his unfortunate behavior. This is not a question about his talent, a fact which goes undisputed but the issue here is that he needs help like Reem said. More important this is not issue about nationality...

I do feel for him but especially for his family, because it would be so humiliating to be in his place... Maybe this will be a much needed wake-up call...

However in regards to his music, Wassouf rocks.

george has a great voice and a very large fan base including me, but why does he need cocain, he's a great person and a great singer he should take care of himself much better than this.. I really hope and wish him the best...

i think he became adict because he is physically sick, he used to take pain killers to overcome his illness, but this doesnt mean this is justification 4 him to be drug adict, and if u r in pain u have to accept what mighty god meant 4 u, and ease yourself by prayers to GOD.

I couldn't agree more with all you said, Reem. What it happening to Georges is reaaaally sad and he urgently needs helps. We have grown up with s guy since he started when he was sooo young and he has been very successful since the beginning. Personnally I liked listenning to him before but now it pains me to hear him because his voice is so destroyed by alcohool and drugs and he does look like he even care. He must be living in hell. An addict's life is very very painful. I hope he gets some help and find a way to a cleaner more dignified path in life. And who care wether he is lebanese, syrian or martian! To me he is a human being whose life is ruinned by drugs.

We just have to wait for George himself to tell the world if the cocaine belonged to him or not but I feel sorry for his family and fans.

Honestly what does it make for sene if he is from Syria or Lebanon , do you think that they care of which Arab country . The only thing that make sense is that he is arab and that's enough for them, arab are arab when we do such as those criminal things. but when we make a big progress for the society we live in ( I mean in the west like europe and US) They usually say the swedish or the American. They just mention that we have rots from for example egypt or Libanon. So please stop fighting for detailed stuff.
The sad thing is that such as those things just make us arab look even more retarded people, it's kind of suffer us all.
We don't need more injustices against us, it's enough!

So please stop fighting for detailed stuff as George wassofs nationality !

  1. eva84 | November 4, 2008 11:32 PM

    wel said zozo T
what make us even more retarded its that we are fighting about nationalities instead of being united
not surprising the fact that the whole world is laughing at us and invading our countries since we're not capable of being less immature
