Kairouan

The Islamic International Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization which is based in Mecca has decided to name Kairouan in Tunisia the new Islamic Culture Capital of the Arab world in the year 2009. This is a huge honour as Kairouan is now on the same level as what I see as one of the most beautiful cities of the world Alexandria –which was named last year. Also as a result of this the Tunisian government has allocated $1,000,000 to prepare Kairouan for this title and for the festival that comes with it.

The festival that will now take place in Kairouan will be a versatile one with music, competition, films and poetry! I personally think this is a great event and from the sounds of the extent of the preparation that is going into it things seem like they will be astounding.

Congratulations Tunisia!

Sam,

Just take the pain to visit Tunisia & then you will confirm your statement or admit that you are wrong.

I'm just wondering when the Arabs would stop making prejudices about each other & none takes the pain to know really what's going on in countries, which they have never visited.

sam,

There is one type of Hijab that is banned in universities and in some public administrations which is the one that the face is fully covered (called "Nikab" in some countries like Jordan and "Burq'a" in Saudi Arabia..)

I hope this type is of Hijab would be banned in every country since it is even NOT allowed in Islam when you go to Mecca, you must show your face in Mecca...
Is there a better and more holy place than Mecca!!!??
