Asmahan was an iconic singer, nobody has been able to fill her shoes. I think the Asmahan min-series is by far the best this season. The director is very good, I love the type of film he has used..it' s very close to motion picture film. I just read a very interesting and informative article about Asmahan..In the article, the British ambassador to Syria said about Asmahan that "She was and will always be to me one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Her eyes were immense, green as the color of the sea you have to cross on the way to paradise."

Yeah George Asmahan was a real beauty eventhough her tiny body. Her eyes were incredibly peaceful. She could have became a rare legend if she lived much longer with her rare voice and angelic eyes.
I loved the series on TV but I am in no way with Soulaf playing Asmahan role, they seem to brought her only coz she has cloured blue eyes! I say it again, Joumana Mourad could have done wonders in this series as Asmahan, the women resemble a lot in body and facial traits and shapes, and Joumana could have worn light green contact lences no big deal. Soulaf is a good actress but sorry guys, she has nothing in common not even eyes colour. and what is this big big stomack she has in the series and big torsom she is appearing tooooo fat for Asmahan that tiny little wonderful woman....I mean couldn't she lost few pounds before filming?????? I really still don't undersand why on earth they gave her the role, what was the point? acting wise? Neither Soulaf nor Jouman are excellent actresses they are just ok, so I say they easily could have given the role to the much resembling actress with Asmahan.

series i think that soulaf is much better than joumana in acting but i think she must lost few pounds.

Amahan is undoubtedly one of the LEGENDS of Arabic Tarab.Her life was so dramatic andmysterious but unfortunately the script is too weak to capture any depth of her life. Soulaf could not capture the essenceof the character at all (her physique is heavier + she keeps on smiling!)
As much as I love Asmahan, I'mreally sad that this series did not do her and her legacy justice at all :(
I agree with you "asmahan". Neither the actress nor the story nor the directing is good (the director usually direct the actors in a movie, and here he couldn't demonstrates any resemblace with the actress and asmahan , too many obvious differences between the two physically and spiritually, Asmahan character was by far not like what we are seeing in the series, here Soulaf is sooooooooo sweet with childish movements and smiles unlike asmahan who reflected severness in her facial traits)
but, in general the series is to be seen for entertainment.
I watch the TV series and I'm fan of Asmahan and her brother Farid but I don't understand why they had to pick Solaf, she's older than Asmahan who was 26 when she drowned. Ward El-Khal is a good actress but the men who portray her sons Fouad and Farid are older than her! I've been waiting for years to see Asmahan's biography on film despite her family's objections.
