If there is one series everyone is talking about it’s the Tunisian biographical production ‘Asmahan’, however, it looks like Asmahan lovers will be left high and dry after a Ministry decree has been released to ban the airing of this series! Prince Faisal El Atrash –Asmahan’s only living heir- went to the highest authorities and claims that the series offends his family and makes his father Fouad El Atrash out to be a weak man who beat his sister Asmahan and took away her money!

In addition to this apparently the series contains some religious issues that cause an unnecessary uproar in the Muslim community!

Whilst I am disappointed that I won’t have the pleasure of watching this series, I think it is disturbing to try and immortalize the life of a great woman in a disrespectful series! Prince Faisal has even said that the series insults Asmahan herself! We just have to wait and see what the producers do about this, perhaps they will compromise. But time is running out…
