The legendary Egyptian director Youssef Chahin passed away yesterday at the age of 82 in Cairo.
After suffering a brain hemorrhage and falling into a coma back in June, he was taken to France for medical treatment, but it seems after the doctors reached a decision that there's no way out, he was taken back to his country to die among his family and his loved ones.
Today, a funeral ceremony was held in Cairo and hundreds of famous Egyptian actors and known politicians were present to bid the famous director farewell.
Although Chahin doesn't walk among us any more, he will never be forgotten, for his memory will always be carved in our minds and hearts.
Our condolences go out to Chahin's family ... May he rest in Peace.
May god bless his soul. He is one of the most talented arab directors that ever existed. My favorite movie of his is "Al Masir" or Destiny. That movie is amazing, it shows so much creativity and talent.
We will miss you Yousef Chahine.
on no wayyyyyy , r u serious ????????????? he passed away !!!!!....thats shoking ....
he was unique......
R.I.P. he is actually of lebanese descent (from zahle). But he moved to egypt and pursued his career there. He was an awesome person and he will definately be missed.
it's a big shock for the world to know such incredible and talented man has gone, RIP Youssef the Egyptian cinema will never replace you....it's a shame, you will always be remenberd with you HONEST films.
No human that passes away is to be replaced!!!! Every human that God created is unique . That is a miracle of God. Shaheen , we will miss your great films but your heritage will remain and generations to come will learn and add to it. Heritage never persihes ; it remains as a great source that adds to a nation's greatness and uniqueness. Labenese said that Shaheen was of Labebese origin . I can add to his statement that the land that taught him , affected and had a great impact on his life, beliefs, ideologies , thoughts , style and character was Egypt , the land where all Arabs of different nationalities lived and became Egyptians as the Egyptians themeselves. In Egypt you will find that most Egyptians have different origins: Turkish, Syrians , Moroccon, Armanian, Iraqi , Iranians ...etc but at the end they all belong to their beloved land Egypt. Remember, that before colonization , the Arab and some Islamic counties were one and there were no borders that we find today. In every country , you will find that phenomenon and at the end we are all Arabs. Farewell Shaheen and may your soul rest in peace. Best regards to All Arabs !!!!!
R.I.P. Youssef Shaheen...My condoleances to Latifa Tunsia; now she s a widow...i hope she can resist the sorrow...May God Help you!
