With summer, comes a flow of tourists to places like Cairo and Dubai and whilst we all want visitors to have a good time, all we ask is that our culture be respected. Well, respect was something Michelle Palmer and her boyfriend Phineas Acrous forgot about before being arrested on Jumeriah beach in Dubai after having sex in public! The 36-year-old and her boyfriend are facing up to 6 years of jail and apparently the British Embassy claims they will give them no assistance other than providing a list of local lawyers.
Personally I’m disgusted that two adults can go into an Islamic country and think they can drink and have sex in public. Religions aside, think of the children who could have passed by and seen this! I really hope that these two are actually punished and do not get away with what they did simply because of the fact that they are British. Yes tourists bring a lot of good to any country, but disrespectful tourists are –in my opinion- more trouble than they are worth.

I`m from the UAE and was there when this incident occured,everybody was shocked parents started holding thier kids and running away from that place cause it was disgusting..thank god i was there with my friends only but even though it was very embarassing!! Anyhow,people after seeing this ran to call a police and when the police arrived he warned them but Michelle started shouting abusive language to the officer...she was really drunk,then they were arrested! According to a local newspaper,Phineas was a tourist in the UAE for three weeks when this happened and Michelle is a resident of Dubai for 3 years now! Michelle was fired from her job two days after the incident
I agree that it's awkward to have sex in public ,but being under arrest for it? Come on guys ,killing people is a crime , stealing is a crime...not showing affection to someone else! The police department would have caught a REAL criminal during all the time they took to investigate!
I wonder how the couples in that country have children!!! After all, that's how it's been done for centuries...
If you have trouble looking at it, just don't look (as simple as that)!!! The perfect example for that is when I was in high school. Couples used to kiss each other. Some students looked at them ,and some, didn't.
What I want to say is that someone could have told them gently (looking backwards!) to go somewhere private ,instead of calling the police.
That's my opinion. What do you think?

I dont agree with you.. there are somethings you can look at and some are unbearable like this incident for example. We can choose not to loos at couple kissing eachtoher but when you choose to have sex in public can kids be stopped from watching it? Kissing is bearable but sex in public is just a shame .. A rrom is made for that. If they have some sense of shame in them and respect to the country they in.. they wouldnt choose to do it. This is worse crime that can take place in a respectful place. Its disgusting. I have lived in america for years and never encounter such behavior. How can they not do it here in a christian country and do it in a muslim country?? Think about it for a second.
So they were not alone when it occured??!!... I had an an image of an isolated part of the beach with no one around, where passion and the thrill of being caught overtook common sense :P
Well that is not acceptable or tolerated in any country, you do get arrested for such lewd behaviour anywhere. Moral behaviour and respect is not restricted to certain places, but should be applied everywhere. There is a big difference between kissing and actually having sex while a lot of people are around.
I can not believe wat staracfan just wrote? Kissing and sex are two different things! Kissing in public is common in some countries but having sex..c`mon!! People should respect the culture of any country they are in!! Dubai is a muslim city everyone is aware of that,its a very liberal city but keep in mind a muslim one...the government allow citizens to do whatever they want,so people should not take advantage of it!!
Starac,u also said people should`ve gone and warned them....The Police warned her and she started using abusive language,what would she have done to the people!! If you were there to witness this,i`m sure you wouldnt have said this,,,,it was disgusting,Really!
