Titanic Life Jacket

If you have money, would you waste it on a lifejacket that was made like almost a century ago? Granted that it is a lifejacket from the Titanic in 1912, still, what use would be it to you now? I heard on the news that a lifejacket from the Titanic was being put up for auction. And really, even though it’s already rotting, as you can see from the looks of it, it still fetched a handsome price. A woman who refused to identify herself paid $68,500 for the jacket at the auction held at Christie’s International in New York. Because the Titanic’ is almost at its 100th anniversary, all the things included in the auction were overpriced.

The auctioned lifejacket is stained with oil and blood. According to Gregg Dietrich, person in charge of the auction, the apparatus drifted from the boat and absorbed these substances from the April 15, 1912 wreckage. Looking at the picture, can’t help seeing it as a sinister life jacket.

So, let’s get back to my question. Would you spend your money on a collection like this one?
