Obama Rally

Wondering what this question is all about?! Well, last Monday during the rally of Barack Obama in Detroit, two American Muslim women weren’t allowed to sit behind Obama simply because they were wearing head scarves!

I’m not going to go through this issue and say it’s discrimination and against Obama’s campaign which is supposedly committed to bringing Americans together… I just want to ask you what if these two women were simply Nuns wearing head scarves or let me say head covers, would they be allowed to sit behind Obama?

- Yes, they would be allowed!
- No, they would have treated them the same way.

Waleg,
I didn't follow up closely on the issue, but I beleive it wasn't obama that ordred that but some ignorant person that works in his campain who got fired once obama knew about it.
If you recall a while ago (but still going on) Fox news has initiated a rumor that obama is a secret muslim :) which in addition to his race got him lower votes from the blue collars. So I think that's why the campain person asked the muslim ladies not to sit behind him. But this in my opinion discrimination. And no, if they were nuns they would be more than happy to give seats on stage because that might get him some of maccains votes.
sorry for the long comment.

I think they would have been treated the same way if that was true. and i dont think it was a discrimination . i think they just didnt like to make the rally look more religious ....
also, i think there was an issue about that ( obama's religion)..........

sousou is correct.

First off it was not Obama or his campaign that didn't allow them to sit but over zealous volunteers. And the campaign has issued an apology fotr the incident.

They would not have done that to nuns no. But the reason for that is because the far right have issued the rumour that Obama is a secret muslim, to play on ani islamic sentiment in the american public. The volunteers wanted to avoid him being seen with muslims. Sadly this is discrimination. I'm sure the volunteer doesn't hate muslims or anything but this is a sad truth that there is rascism against muslims here in the US.

Hopefully this kind of incident will not happen again.
