Each time I see an airship I can’t help remembering the historical Hindenburg zeppelin… and the tragic fate it suffered. But that was a long time ago; it’s now time to make a new start. Several companies, like Britain’s SkyCat and Germany’s Zeppelin NT are pushing forth with a new design of airships. With the new and advanced technologies today, the new airships being developed seem to be safer and more efficient. The new airships have a more aerodynamic design and are made of high-quality proprietary synthetic stronger steel. This composition is quite strategic so that even if helium happens to leak, it will not have immediate impact on the airship’s function.

These modern airships also do away with ropes! No more difficult tethering job because the NT Zeppelin makes use of vectored thrust. The SkyCat on the other hand can make its landing even without a runway. Pretty interesting. Airships can be used as a air transport substitute for air pales… however, just be sure you don’t mind reaching your destination longer than you expect.

If a chance comes my way, I’d love to take a ride in one of these airships. Would you?
