The program Superstar, the Arab version of American Idol, was meant to be a phenomenon, and the first season was exactly that. The finals were impressive with Diana Karazon, and Rowaida Attieya. The streets of Damascus and Amman were lined with posters and photos of them, showing their support. However, season by season, I am noticing that the show is losing it's fame and attention.
Superstar was meant to showcase the beautiful voices of the candidates and help them achieve their goals in singing and in fame. But to me, the show is not the best of its kind. The voices aren't anything special, with exceptions of about two or three. I can't distinguish the voices apart in this season, there is no personality at all. We only see them up on stage singing for three minutes (they cut the song short) and they are off. And in those three minutes, most of the candidates are scared out of their minds. I think the program is far along enough for the candidates to get used to the stage and the audience. There are many candidates who don't even deserve to stand on the stage and sing.
The program used to have an air of glory. I cannot see what's so special about Superstar 5 now. They have to change something about it in order to get a higher audience level. Based on the number of comments left on each synopsis of the Superstar prime here on Waleg, 15 is nothing compared to the 300+ comments each Star Academy Prime used to get, not to mention the dailies.

superstar sucks. i dont like it. i prefer star academy. it is stunning. i say that super star should be stopped cos no candidate does anything after the program is over.
I guess when you got only singing and no gossips and love story people are not interested.
I like superstar more than star academy because people are singing better songs.The only Bad thing is that you dont get to know the singers more.
As said 3 minutes sing and out.
i dont agree with what as said, i think superstar is a very good program & the voices r amazing i really enjoy it more then star academy
& im not with those who say that the candidates does nothing after the program on the contrary alot of them were shining like diana karazon, rowaida, mil7im,s3oud abu sultan, al7akmi & other egyptian candidates that i can't recall there names now
& im not also with the people who say that superstar is for old people only! it is for those people who love real singing ... im not old at all & i luv it
I think superstar is an awesome show and more people should watch it because it really shows the voice talent we have all over the Arab world
And its really not for old people if u watched last prime all of the candidates are between 16 and 19 and alot have really strong voices for there age
But if u want to compare it to star academy, the show is much more popular bc of the drama not the voices
I would say 3 out of the 20 cadidates in star ac would make it through the first round in superstar

Future SuperStar is a very well try to save what's left of Good Music composers. Compared to Star Academy which is exciting and fun to watch up to some point, Yes you would find some good voices however, i belive that the level of voices selected and competing in Super Star is extremely High.
To name some of the Great voices that went through the show and made a difference in the Music Industry, Diana Karazon, Ruwaida who you've named, i'd like to add Melhem Zen, S3ood Abu Sultan, Ibrahim Al-Hakamy, Shahad Barmada, Husam Madanya, Husam Al-Shamy, Haitham Al-Shomaly and more.
I personaly think that last year was not a success, However i'd really have to disagree with not finding talents in this season, to name few just for the Sake of argument, Diana from lebanon, Murad from Palestine, Abd Al-Majeed from Saudi Arabia, Elli from Lebanon, Dunia from Morocco, and more...
I think superstar would last longer for years to come, because it's delivering something good in the times of "non good" !
SUPERSTAR is the best in this program we judge the real beautiful voice we don't listen words like I'm god or watch harakat bala akhla9 walla fadha9e7! all the candidates in superstar have good voice but in starac we listen too much nachaz listen to zaher merihen nachaz nachaz nachaz! i like so much Diana 's voice and mourad they have exceptional voice and charisma on a stage!long life to superstar!!bedkon tchoufou el fadhayeh choufou starac w iza badkon il fan ma elkon ella superstar!!

Shahad Barmada was simply amazing !!!
And those kind of voices are very hard to work with i guess because they just can't sing silly songs as it would be an insult for such a gifted voice.
And unfortunately nowadays talent is not so important ...

Is she going to have a cd or something soon ?
As the writer of this article, I just wanted to clear a point up. I'm talking only about the fifth season of Superstar. Someone above mentioned Shahed Barmada. Yes she was absolutely amazing, and I used to watch the show solely for her, so I'm not all against the previous Superstar seasons. I just wanted to offer an opinion and see what people think. Thanks

I totally agree with u waleg !! superstar 1 and 2 were absolutely amazing and I was addicted to them I cant remember missing any prime or even a superstar extra episode ! and real stars graduated from them like ofcourse the winners diana karazon and ayman el 2a3tar and others like rowaida,melhem,shady and hadi aswad,nancy zaabalawi,haitham saeed and others I just cant keep count of them. but since superstar 3 started I dont know what happened I felt like something was wrong rania el kurdi left the show and a new rude judge whom I cant stand became part of the show so I felt like it was a totally different program and I stopped watching it since then
I was hoping maybe they could stop making these drastic changes because people get attached ro judges ,the presenters and even the stage ! I think that's one of the reasons why superstar is losing its audience
i just started watching Superstar ever since we got futureTV. i truly enjoy superstar way more than star academy. i think people dont write much on the waleg posts is simply the fact that there is no drama in the show itself.
Superstar is based on singing, and thats what it should be soley based on, not who likes who, who did what... blah, blah, blah...
just the singing. and since everyone mostly agrees (in my opinion) that they all have good voices there is really nothing to write about.
i think super star is way better ant least under ethics umbrella, i used to watch starac, and i admit that they spend alot of money to make this show that popular, but the real voices u find them in superstar. By the way RAKYA from starac 4 and asma baseet from starac5 lost the first round in superstar, so what that tels u, but i think arab people likes to see meanless and stupid stuff, frankly, i think star academy teaches KELLET AL ADAB more than ART
people don't like star academy because of it drama infact sometimes its nonsence, but when look for examole at the primes its far way more Interesting. At least in star academy there are things such top 5, friend of the week and lots of other things, where is that in super star i think they try too much to copy american idol.
Diana Karazon is real garbage ,she is not arab singer,americans stand her to laugh about arabs.She is shame f or our culture,usual fat gray mouse without any charm,talent,charisma. American show have to be s hown in USA.We don't need such stupid shows.Arabs have to protect own culture from terrible influence of that low,stupid culture.
