I know that many viewers in the arab world like to watch Star Academy and Superstar as well.
With the popularity of these two specific shows increasing every year, the debate on which show is more intriguing increases as well. But which show do you prefer to watch? What show is better? Which show has better: participants, voices, primes, hosts, and a better general overview? Which show is more interesting and would never miss it no matter what comes up?!

First you know ur "star" better, the personality and so on
Second thing the star academys prime shows u more, the students do more and we are waiting to see whos top one, friend of the week, who will sing with the singer and so on... and there is always big surprises
We all are waiting to see who will be nominee with who... Its so funny when the students have fun with eachother and the channel that shows u the students 24/24 make it better!
I only know that Diana karazon was the winner of Super Star 1!!
BUT, who was the winner of the second season of super star ? third? forth? fifth?
I dont know.. And i'm sure not a lot of people are following and watching super star as much as Star academy.
I actually stopped watching super star after season two, I only like the funny part at the very first.

i think STAR ACADEMY is more entertaning than superstar...
i mean star a cademy is more intresting to watch with all the extra stuff they do..thier primes are amazing and the work they put to it and just generally the whole thing they teach is different not just having a voice but also dancing, acting and many other stuff..
though SUPERSTAR is still cool...when it comes to vocal challenge it will straight out beat star academy...super star is just looking for that person who holds the golden voice....
so yea both shows have their points
I feel that superstar is targeted to the old people who enjoy old songs
however star academy is diffrent they're targeting the young vibrant people who enjoy all type of songs not only um kolthoum and the rest old guys.
there's a vast diffrence between the two shows

I think you can't compare these two shows, they are totally different. Star academy is more of a "show", sure they sing, but there is also dancing, it's a real show! Super Star is more concentrated on the voice. The two shows are very good, each in its own way. I agree with DXB, Star academy is more for the younger generation, whereas Super Star is more for the older generation. One thing Star academy has that Super star doesn't is a good Host! They can't seem to find a good host for that show! Nothing beats Hilda! She is just the best! Anyways, both shows are good, but i find you can't compare since they're not totally the same!
Well, Star Academy is more fun to watch but Super star has the real voices! it's a tad bit boring to watch, but those contestants have great voices!
I don't like any of them too many talentless people who believe they are somtehing special. Now Lame Academy has finished I'm back to watching Nagham.
STAR ACADEMY OF COURSE
It like Beef Shawerma and Chicken Shawerma ! Each has its flavor.
The superstar contestants are much better singers and have wonderful voices. Staracademy contestants have a variety of talents.
The difference is that Starac students get the support of LBC/StarSystem which does a much better job at promoting the students than Future TV does with the Superstar contestants.....
Only those of Superstar one are known, Diana Karazon, Roweida Attieh, Melhem Zein, So3od Abu Soltan. The rest of the Superstar 2,3,4.. we don't know much about or see much except Ibrahim El7akami...
StarAcademy plays with people's minds and emotions and gets the viewers involved in the lives of these students. So that is why more poeple watch Starac.
I really don't think it is fair to compare apples to Oranges. I bet you if the StarAc students compete in the setting that Superstar uses, no one will care about them as much and will be forgotten fassssst....

Superstar has nothing to do with academy and persons that you can follow 24/7, it is a program that only focus on the voice and the charisma on stage, not on dancing or singing in other languages
And Superstar is not only for older people, there are many finalists who are younger than 20, shahd barmada from superstar 3 was 17 years old when she participate, Hadi Aswad was 18 years old, marwan ali from last year was 18 years old, and there are many others.
But both programs are nice to watch, I really can't choose wich is better, maybe Superstar is better with voices and star academy with the overall.
Well Obviously I choose Star Academy.. Super Star is nothing next 2 Star Acacdemy.. though Super Star always choose the best "Voices" & only voices..
But Star Academy they look for a full package.. Looks, Voice & Charisma for example Ahmed El Sherif, Mohamed Qwaider, Nader Quirat, Shada Hassoun, Joseph, Sofia..

I am one of Star Academy's biggest fans though all the drama that happens each season but yet it's irresistable.. when u start watching it's hard 2 stop & that wat happened wid me since Star Academy 1..
Super Star honestly I only know Diana Karazon & Ayman Al Aaatar I guess that was his name..
i think superstar 1 was the best i mean how can forget melhem zein..he is the best.there are so many names i remember from superstar 1 but the other seasons were boring.

star academy involves the student's personal lives and watching them 24/7 and that gets people more attached to this show, alot of people forget the talent and just focus on their lives and stories. So it is more entertaining, but the voices are that great, except for maybe one or two max per season that have great voices:
season 1: ahmad alsharif, baha
season 2: amany
season 3: joseph, hana
season 4: shada, marwa
season 5: Qwaider, shahi, saad
super star, is more like a voice competition onle, no personal lives involved plus the songs are 50 years old so if you like that kind of music then super star is there for you. 99% of the students have great voices.
For myself, if both shows are airing at the same time, i would pick star academy without even thinking, its more fun for me.

At least the results on Super star do not get faked out blatantly like they do on Star academy and our latest fake winner Nader.
AYman was z best presenter in super star. It sucks without him.
Well, I think they faked the results in Superstar 2 when Ayman el Atar Won, romours say that Libya voted for free and the Palestina had to pay for voting to Ammar Hassan.
I think superstar is aimed at the older generation, whilst star academy is targeted at the younger generation
i find star academy better overall as the contestants get to sing in more than one language and the primes are more exciting and they have a 24l7 channel so you know the contestants personality as well as there voices.
I think Staracademy is good for Europe but not for arab .

It is not even close. For starters star academy is more interesting while, superstar is boring.
Also, I think the idea that Superstar has better voices is ridiculous. Star Academy tends to accept many who can not sing, but the bst singers of star academy are always better then the winners of Superstar. For example this year in superstar not a single one can sing nearly as well as Qwaider. Star academy has many bad voices but always also has many singers who are waaay better.
The only successful superstar contestant is Melhen Zein, and Ibrahim el Hakami a little, while from star academy very many have succeeded. Ahmed El Sheriff does not have the greatest voice but has succeeded way more.
And W, there are a lot more good voices from starac then just those. The following are all good.
Season 1: Mohammad Khalawy(best), Baha, Bashar, and Ahmed S.
Season 2: Zizi Adel, Amani Swissi, Ahmed Hussein... Hisham was just funny
Season 3: Hana Idrissi, Joseph Attiyah, Hani Hussein, Fadi Andraos, Chayma Hilali.
Season 4: Shatha Hassoun(best), Marwa, Amal
Season 5: Nader Quirat, Mohammad Qwaider, Abdullah Doussary, Saad Ramadan.
and many more great voices
Overall Starac is a more interesting show, more popular show, and always gets the MOST talented singers/best voices.
The most popular reality TV show ever in the Czech Rep was about the family of gorillas in the Prague zoo. After one year of dailies everyone in the country (population two times that of Lebanon) knew about the personalities of each of these animals, not only the names, and had their favorite. What is the difference in the popularity of these gorillas and the StarAc students? None ! (I am not talking about the very, very few who have made it in the music business !)
The American TV discovered the formula long time ago: follow a group of the next-door-like individuals daily, create the viewer attachment, put the characters in a jeopardy situation (when they can get dismissed from the game), ask viewers for the votes to "save" them, and - make money! This is what Rola Saad is doing with her "students."
That the popularity of these celebrities is a relative thing you can see from the "airport arrival" videos of these SatarAc participants : the waiting teens go nuts, and the passengers arriving on the same flight getting out and not giving a hoot for the "celebrity."
Therefore, you remember the StarAc students because of the above said, not because they are better than the SuperStar candidates; and, of course, after seeing for instance Zaher, a great guy, for almost four months, you will always remember him by him - not by his subzero talent.
The formats of these two shows are different and they cannot be compared; yet, by some features they could, comparing just the primes. Like:
- the talent for singing of all candidates (not justr the "voice"):
SuperStar (SS) - 90%, StarAc (SA) - 60%;
- the impact of music, seting-wise (real orchestra, accompanying group; vs. playback with the background animations) : SS - 100%, SA - 25%;
- interuptions (by the judges in the SS vs. Her Majesty Rola in the SA) : same %;
- redundant features (like the "friend of the week," etc.) SS - 0%, SA- - high %;
- the perfomance formats : SS - 1 (candidate alone), SA - 6 (tableaux - with dancers, candidate(s) with piano, candidates in 2-3 groups, candidates all together, candidate(s) with the guest singers, the guests alone).
If the last feature - in which the StarAc has a clear advantage over the SuperStar, were combined with other features in which the SuperStar is stronger, it would make an ultimate musical show. Unfortunately, it will not happen ...
