Jordanian Mostafa Mahmoud Climbs Everest

Jordanian Mostafa Mahmoud Salameh tried to climb Mount Everest twice and was deterred by health complications, but that didn't stop him from trying the third time.
Mostafa's third time proved to be the lucky charm! Last week, he completed his dream of being the first Jordanian to reach the top of Mount Everest and the second Arab to have scaled all seven of the world's highest mountains.
Mostafa reached the peak on May 25th, which is also Jordan's Independence Day, and held high the Jordanian flag as it fluttered in the Tibetan sky!

In his earlier attempts, Mostafa altitude sickness forced him to abandon the climb and rescuers had to rescue him and then he contracted an infection and was forced to quit.

Congratulations!

Guess who announced his plans to take on the challenge next year?
Famous chef Gordon Ramsay! I guess he's going to swear his way up to the peak!

Congrats to him, it's an incredible feat that is very hard to accomplish. I wish that more Arabs can continue to make us proud with a great accomplishments.

Seeing that I am Egyptian, I would also like to mention that OMAR SAMRA was the first Egyptian and third Arab to climb Mount Everest, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omar_Samra

The first was Zed El Rifai in 2003, he was from Kuwait, and the second is Maxim Chaya from Lebanon.

    Maxim Chaya, Wikipedia:

After he has completed Everest, the Lebanese Maxime Chaya completed the second pole (South Pole) of his Three Poles Challenge on December 28, 2007 (December 27, 2007 Antarctica time).

If he completes his third pole (North Pole) as scheduled in 2009, he will have been only the 14th PERSON IN THE WORLD to have achieved the Grand Slam - 3 POLES & 7 SUMMITS.
