A Kuffiyeh (or shamgh) has been the traditional headdress of Arab men since forever!
Some wear the back and white checkered one, others wear the red and white checkered one, it all depends where your from or simply your taste in colors!
At one point in time, the Kuffiyeh, if worn by none-Arabs, was thought to send out a certain message; solidarity with Palestine or 'I am a rebel' maybe.
With time the Kuffiyeh has become a fashion statement! It sure looks cool!
Young hipsters are wearing the traditional Arab scarf these days as part of their cool and hip wardrobe and there's nothing wrong with that ... but some people still think it's insulting or out of context! for some strange reason ...
Take Dunkin’ Donuts for example, their latest ad, which features Rachel Ray, was pulled because Rachel was wearing a scarf that slightly resembled a Kuffiyeh! I assure you, she wasn't wearing one, but only a scarf that might have looked like one because of the black and white design on it!

Fox News commentator Michelle Malkin explained: "The Kuffiyeh has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad."
What?! Come on! Isn't this a tad bit exaggerated?!
Has the fear of Muslims, or maybe Arab-phobia become extreme and ludicrous?
I'm sure neither Rachel Ray not her stylist would have ever thought such a thing would happen!

This reminds me of the DR.PHIL show i watched a couple of days ago about the girl who ranaway to her palestinian boyfriend. At the first two episodes of the 3-part show, it seems that they thought he was only dangerous just because he was an arab. I felt very offended. Then the third part revealed that he abused her verbally and physically. I wanted to send Dr. Phil a message on his site but then i realized that i'd only be embaressing myself. I dont know the truth exactly but im sure most of you who watched the show at first felt hurt.
Waleg. i wanted to write an article about that but im just too busy with my exams. I'll try to send it as soon as possible.
Please, if anyone saw this let me knwo what you think. I'd like to know if i was only biased and took it in an offensive way.

If u have the mbc channel, I sincerely advise u 2 tune in. That programme KALAM NAWA3IM with the 4 women interviewing people & discussing social issues etc are gonna have the Palestinan (hubby/ bf whatever he was) as one of their guests in the forthcoming show. I wish I could tell u when it's on exactly but I'm unsure.

me too Ashmy, i was offended due to that program the way they were saying from 'that country' to get her out of 'that country' ...'those people' i mean i am not Palestinan and only half arab but hell i couldn't watch the show beyond 2nd part. i did not beleive even the verbal and .. abuse
