Tonight, the 7th season of American Idol ends with one of the Davids taking home the title of American Idol 2008!
Last night, the show was more of a boxing match than of a singing competition!
The finalists were ushered into the stage, or might i say the ring, as the theme from "Rocky" played and ring announcer Michael Buffer announced: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Nokia Theater L.A. Live. This is the fight of the century, scheduled for three rounds of competition. So let's get ready to rummmble!"
After the show, some even went on to say that David Archuleta scored a Knock Down over David Cook!
So, in your opinion, who will be the main man? Who will take home the belt, i mean the title?

David Cook is the American Idol. He can take any song and make it amazing. He is a true artist and the only choice
David Archuleta he has proved yesterday night that he came there to win to give it his all I liked him since day one. He has one of the most amazing vocals. I mean wow not so many 17 years olds or younger have vocals like he does and what I like about him is that he sings from his heart for him its a dream being in american idol he even said it. I know now matter what happens today if he doesnt win he still going for his dream his goal to be a inspirational singer that he is.
David Archuleta's voice was heard last night. He IS the American Idol. Unfortunately, TPTB have already decided that they want David Cook. Last week it was evident when we saw what the Producer's song choice and the Judge's song choice was for Archuleta. He fought back and gave flawless performances. This week, during rehersals, I'm sure it became obvious to TPTB that Archuleta was going to steal the finale. So they started their PRO Cook campaign by sending Simon out into the media. Yesterday, Simon was a guest on Ellen and not only predicted a Cook win, but on a scripted lead from Ellen, went on to dismiss Archuleta. His praising of Cook and his unfair condescending attitute towards Archuleta on the DAY of the peformances was an attempt to sway the millions of Ellen supporters and viewers to rally behind his campaign. Yes, for credibility, Simon had no choice but to declare Archuleta the evening's victor, but it was too late. David Cook will likely get the crown tonight, not because he took it away from Archuleta who rightfully deserves it, but becacuse TPTB did.

David A. is by far the best contestant, the former contestants agreed. Both David's will have great careers. David A didn't choke in the final stretch and Simon and Ellen you should be ashamed of yourselves trying to sway the vote that way. I look at Ellen in a totally different way, I didn't expect that from her, as I watched I honestly can't remember her saying anything good about David A. she was so wrapped up in talking about DC And who cares if DC was a struggling bartender it was his choice and he already has a cd out Axium. Well the singing is done and the votes are in and both seem to be good friends but after this year (and I haven't missed a year) I doubt I will watch again too many games I wish they would just let them sing and let America decide on our own we do know what we like. I too was disappointed with Ellen's push towards David Cook. Cook has had many flat notes and his voice is one that the world will get annoyed with very quickly.....every song sounds the same! David A. can sing "the phone book", as the judges have said time and time again and that's where the true talent lies. Wake up America!!!!!! I just wish I could have voted from Canada! David A. I'll be buying your albums!!!!!!
American's can only be persuaded to vote due to a television appearance or two by Simon only if they can't think for themselves. I believe we can and do (think for ourselves). If David Archuleta could have done what he did last night with every performance he gave on this season's Idol then he would indeed be worthy of the "crown" hands down. But to show what he really is capable of doing on the last show is not worthy of his winning the title. Why has he hidden that intensity before now? Cook however has proven his versatility, his willingness to take a risk (just like he did last night with his final song choice). Sure he could have played it safe and sung BJ or Hello, but he didn't. David A knew that "Imagine" would give him the edge he felt he needed. But the true talent lay with Cook. Archie sings one venue and does it well, but Cook can sing any style, type, venue, genre, etc. and do it well. If the voters took all the performances and looked at them as a whole package, and not just the ones on last night's show, then only Cook fits the Idol mold. My fear is, as American's often do, the votes were based on last night's performances only. Cook was great; Archie basically stuck to his ballads, only with more intensity. Will he keep that up in his tour performances? I know I for one will expect it from now on from him if he wins tonight.
there is no taking away from the fact that archie despite his tender years is actually a better strategist than cook.. he is singing songs for the grannies and little girls and dads with daughters and really does have the awww factor... his voice is brilliant...angellike.. and he is a gentleman/boy.. and he will be the next idol... however... i feel cook is the one to actually watch out for in the long haul.. and 10 years down the line people are going to forget he was once an idol finalist because he will not be moulded into some pop tart but be standing up to packed arenas being himself..
Great observation, guerillabob. I don't Cook has a thing to worry about. I just like David Cook period. I am an old rocker and was all for Bo Bice when he was a finalist and loved this year's other rocker, Micheal Johns. David A has a marvelous gift. I liken him to Josh Groban of new and Bobby Vinton of old. He is also a humble and precious young man. You can tell that singing is his passion. He simply glows when he sings. Cook on the other hand is going to be a sensation as well. But Cook is equally humble, kind, nice and grateful. I just hate to see either one of them come so far and lose the title. There are no real losers this year at all in this finale. Both are famous, respected, and wonderful young men. I will definitely add their CD's to my collection without hesitation.
I am a huge David Cook fan and have liked him from day one--it will be a very tough choice because either one is very deserving.

I think David A will win the title hand sdown that kid has got am amazing voice it like listening to angels sing, and after he sings it like then angels have lifted all your worries and you feel like a new born baby
