A scary thing happened in a small town in Texas a couple of days ago; a sinkhole appeared in the ground and swallowed everything above it!
The sinkhole, which is a hole formed in the ground when the surface of the ground collapses, started on Wednesday when the soil started to sink in and managed to swallow up anything in it's way!
Until today, it's grown into a huge crater (183m X 46m) and has swallowed oil tanks and barrels, tires, telephone poles and several vehicles. Today, it has closed in on the surrounding houses around it!
Residents of Daisetta watched as trees and cars that were close to the mouth of the crater tumbled in!

The authorities are still studying the reasons for the formation of the sinkhole.
The town of Daisetta sits on a salt dome, a natural formation created below the ground over millions of years where oil and natural gas accumulate.
the salt dome might have become weakened and got fractured because of the oil drilling over the past years.
They also can't determine when it's hunger will stop! It's not clear when it'll stop growing.
Some residents are afraid that the whole town will cave in!
Yikes! Talk about scary!
