Last Tuesday when I was watching the nominations ceremony for Star Academy 5, and saw that Diaa and Mirhan were nominees, I could not help but wonder what criteria people used to vote. Some I am sure vote on the basis of nation, for example as an Egyptian I would be inclined to vote for Mirhan. This begs to question: is it fair? I mean if Mirhan was up against Saad for example would it be fair for me to vote for her even though Saad has a stronger voice? No! Then maybe we should vote on the basis of who has the best voice!
Yet again being a star is not just about your singing voice and whilst Mirhan does not have a strong voice like Saad she is extremely creative, an amazing actress and possesses uncanny stage presence! Perhaps some of you vote for who is friends with your favourite student, so if you like Saad you would vote for Diaa and if you like Nader or Mustapha then Mirhan would be your choice. It is quite obvious that the reason Diaa has received such an unusually high percentage when she has been nominated is that Lebanon love her because Saad loves her.

I'd vote for Mirhan..perioddd!...It's only because I know she deserves another chance and yea she's the live of the academy..and without her it'd be sooooooooo dull and boring..she's sooooooo creative and amazing..it's only because this evaluation was really hard and the song..God what's thatttt?? Mirhan has got what it takes to become a star..she's really cute..funny..she's got a sweet voice..she has a great charisma..very creative and artistic..come onnn ppl vote for Mimaaaaa!

I think that people should vote for anyone that shows definite promise to be a good singer first. I feel that the world has too many artisits today that have little or no talent and use provocative video clips to promote themselves, we have too few good singers and too little good songs with substance.
I personally don't care if the person singing fits a certain stereo-type for singers, example, I totally love Hussein Al-Jasmy and have listened to his songs a million times and think he is al malek for the ihsass category. So based on his sucess and his songs that should prove it's not all about the look.
Having said that I would like to listen to someone who has a good voice and can ishaylellha when needed and hizz el masrah.
To me Moe has these qualities. I judge his voice by the 24 channel, if I am listening to him I keep it on, it's enjoyable. if the others are on I get easily bored and they get on my nerves, even Shahy who I like.
Now about countries voting for their people,
I see nothing wrong if someone supports their countrymen based on a real belief that the person is deserving.
I wouldn't vote for a person witha bad voice because he is from my homeland.
Having said that , if you believe with your heart and soul and dameer that the person desrves it GO FOR IT

Of course I would vote for SAAD cuz he is amazing he doesnt have the best acting skills but he has a superior voice and I'm so not saying this cuz I'm lebanese like if it were Jessica and Mirhan I would have totally voted for Mirhan. Saad is amazing.......

dat article make me laugh,first of all even if lebanon voted for the dia many time and we thank them,we all know dat lebanon is such a small country so its not only the backing of lebanon who is bringing dia's back,then in Morocco we love her so much and she's pretty famous since she has already been in another show last year .moroccans arre voting non stop to her becoz she's great,amazing voice and she's so beautiful so in waht basis we are voting : she's benet baladna ,she's nice ,well educated ;cute;she has everything to be a star ,plus she's not counting on her body to be in starac as some poeple who are so weak.

I would vote for both Shahinaz and Mohammed eventhough i am only Egyptian but Mohammed is so talented hes a true star i dont even think he really needed the show...he is one of the few people this yr that truly have an amazing flawless voice...him and shahinaz......so its not all based on the country its based on who u like to watch and talent and all but unfortunaltely people are ignorant and are attacking egyptians....

Actualy darkster, Mirhan can sing 2 languages English and arabic.
I used 2 like Dia but she's just dull. It's like there's no live in her.
While Mirhan, I know she has a weak voice but she has imrpoved alot and she tries her best all the time while Dia dosent.
People shouldnt look at their nation or voice. But who has imrpoved the most and tries their best.

Even i am moroccan i really like Mirhan.. but just as person not as a singer or artist..Well the show is about Singing-ART.. and i think DIAA has got the greater Artist-Feeling when Mirhan is a kind of Commercial-Artist ispite of her sensibility. Being Moroccan, I will opt for Shahinaz if she is confronted to Diaa for example. Why?? It's clear Shahinaz is stonger (vocally speaking). I am being honest. Now Diaa has to win because she is better than Mirhan. I was happy to see Diaa saved last prime but I still think that nader was supposed to be saved. It's logic. Nader is stronger than Diaa for sure. To Egyptians, including WALEG, whom will you vote for if you have to chose b/w Shahy and Mima??? Don't tell me Mima please! For me as an Egyptian , I will vote for the girl/guy from my country. I voted for Mohamed 3attia even though Bashar had a stronger voice but it would've killed me not to see him win. Even if I dislike a candidate from my country , I'm always happy to see him win.Even if the logic says that the other candidate had to win. For example , Zaher was the first Palestinian candidate to be participating in the show. Even though he had a weak voice , Palestinians were definitely happy with the 71% percentage that he got and that he was saved a couple of times by his friends.
But if I had to choose between two candidates who are not from my country ( Like Hesham and Amani because they were the two finalists in all previous seasons not featuring an Egyptian ) , I would go for the candidate with the strongest voice. It's what the show is all about. It's the same issue with Shahinaz and Merihan , I'd definitely go with Shahinaz. Not a talent to be wasted.
So country definitely plays a big factor in most people's voting. For me , it does.

People tend to vote becoz of their country, coz they like the character of the student (dont forget we watch their daily actions), and talent. so u chose ur pick, i think i liked amal b, coz of her character and talent , bt not nationality coz i am from saudi.
and by the way diaa doesn’t not get high votes, let me tell u that woman had to go before amal b. bcoz apparent the votes was accident swept. the academy managers apparently wanted to get amal bk to the show, and thats why she stayed so long in lebanon and jst left on friday. by they couldn’t get her bk coz that will mean that they are proving to people the claim that they received about cheating on the votes are all true.
Abdulaziz: Do not worry I have not taken offense to your comment although I disagree with your description of my article as 'funny'. Indeed I did express my opinion at the end of the article about Diaa getting the most votes not because she is Moroccon as she claims as Asma the other Moroccon contestant was kicked off the show and did not get as a high a percentage as hers. What other explanation is there for Diaa's return to the Academy with sometimes over 60% of the votes if it isnt that Lebanon love her (which we also see from the prime audience) because Saad loves her. Regardless, the expression of my opinion is justified completely as is yours.

In my own opinion diaa got her chance... its her sixth time as a nominee and the fifth in a row she is not willing to inprove and she gets on my nerves with all that saad phonomina,,, i think mirhan deserves another chance and i am sure if she cums baq she will only work harder unlike diaa who i am sure she will only be nominated for a seventh time,,,,,

While I see Dia not being bothered which is another fact. If she worked hard, I know for a fact that Dia wouldve had the best voice even better than Shahinaz probably but she just gave up.

sorry for the delayed reply. Apparently I am getting tiered of the forum and the show. The show was the talent competition show, and has become a soap opera that is watched like a TV series - as very accurately Rika (above) noticed ! The forum is attracting mostly the teenagers from the North Am., and is not interesting (I "joined" when I discovered the website last December when searching for info why the StarAc did not start.
How much Saad loves Diaa you could see after the results were announced (Prime 15). Lebanon voters are a very tiny group and their votes do not count a lot. Diaa survived this ordeal - of being nominated week after week as nobody else in the past seasons (They would always give a student saved by public a break after one-two nominations) - thanks to the free voting in Morocco and the huge fan base in the West. You may dispute it, but, this is a fact, not my opinion. Lebanese may have liked her, because of Saad; but, we are talking here about the kids and the teenagers - who are just not able to swallow that all what is going on in the "academy" is made-up, the fabricated "reality."
