The prime was good but not as good as i expected it to be, knowing big names like Carol Samaha and Amr Mostafa were coming. The students' performances were great...but i think everything else was what really turned me off.
In my opinion, Mohamad, Shahinaz, and Abdallah stole the show for me today. Shahinaz's performances with Carol were very playful and her voice was strong as usual. I found her very entertaining and I'm very proud of how comfortable she has come to be on stage. Abdallah in "Ashekat Al Ward" was flawless, i think i got goosebumps just listening to him. I loved every part of it and thought the song really showed off his vocal abilities. I didn't like the other song so much though. The tableau was a bit stupid in my opinion. Mohamad did an amazing job singing with Amr Mostafa and the song suited him very well. He looked very comfortable and presentable. I LOVED "ya Sa7ebi" with Mohamad and Abdallah. I was smiling through out. So proud of those two, they have come a long way with their friendship and they were very believable on stage. Kudos to them!
Saad did well in his tableau and thought his acting on stage was cute. Mirhan's voice in "el Donya 7elwa" was not good at all. I was kinda embarrassed for her. She went off tune so many times and out of breath even more times. She's got charisma on stage..but that's about it. She does nothing else for me.
Diaa did really well with Amr Mostafa and her voice really suited the song, but i wished she had memorized the lyrics better. It was a bit 'iffy' at some points. But overall..good job.
Now...for the part that i hated! Top 4!!! what in the world?!?! I have no idea under which criteria they choose the students for the Top4 but something is deffinetly wrong with it. Nader did a good job last prime, but i wouldn't say it deserved a top 1, especially that he had already won it 2 times before. He deserved to be in top 4 but not number 1. Also, what is Mirhan doing in the Top 4? If you tell me it's because she has improved, then Zaher should be in there too. He actually did very well last prime. I feel like some students are intentionally being thrown to the side. The blatant injustice happening to Shahinaz. The girls has done beautifully in every prime yet she had gotten top 1 only once and in the past 3 weeks she was not even mentioned in the top 4/5. What makes things even weirder is the fact that ALL teachers discussed her improvement this week vowing that she has improved the most out of all the students. Yet, in the prime..still not even in the top 4 O_o I honestly don't understand their strategy. The only way i can justify what they do is if their faith in Shahinaz and Mohamad is SO great that they are sure they will be in the finals with a big possibility of winning. But even then, it is still un fair to me how they barely make it to the top 4 when others who are so obviously lacking in comparison to them are being charted as top students.
Another thing. Mohammad may be a difficult person to deal with. He's got his own sharp personality and he might not be very good at controlling himself under stress, but i truly believe he is a good guy at heart. I thought the punishment he had of staying home all alone was harsh but it did the trick of letting him really think things over and put things in perspective. And we've seen how much he has improved in the past few days with all the students and even becoming friends with Abdallah. He even apologized to each and every person in the academy, and i think he should be applauded for that. Now, what the hell was the need for the harsh reportage about him in the prime? I though the way it was edited really made him out as a much worse person than he is already thought out to be by some. For example when he said "2alelet adab" to Dia....they only showed when he said it even though Diaa was the one who said it to him first. I just thought that the smart thing to do was to bury the whole issue now that the students are finally good with each other and Mohamad has apologized. A reportage like that is bound to make things worse again....I understand how Mohamad can be sad about it. It's not nice when you have someone orchestrate a whole slide show of all your negative points and throw it in your face in front of a thousands of people like that. I never really was a fan of him in the beginning because of all the problems he had with the students...but when he is in a good mood I saw how good hearted and genuinely nice he can be. I am actually glad Abdallah and Shahinaz sat with him and cared enough to hear him out when he was crying in the theater classroom.
Also, i wanted to say that Zaher and Mirhan are both very nice people with great charisma on stage and even better acting abilities. This helped them get this far as it normally should have. However, i believe that they have reached a level were charisma by itself should NOT be enough and that a strong/good voice should also be in the package. I really think they should leave before another person with greater potential and talent has to leave because of them. It's only fair.
