The story of the press putting words in socialites’ mouths is an old and sad one and the latest victim is Egyptian singer Shereen Abdel Wahab. An interview recently surfaced which quoted Shereen as saying that Amr Diab did not deserve his last ‘Music Award’ and that his latest album is weak and mediocre! Obviously these are serious words and would have destroyed any professional relationship between the two artists and so it is no surprise that Shereen immediately picked up the phone to call her lawyer.

Shereen decided to publish a clarification in which she stated that she is proud of Amr Diab and that his victory is also a victory for her! What Shereen did admit to saying is that Amr Diab’s latest album ‘El Leyladi’ was not his best album and that he had made better ones, but that this did in no way mean that ‘El Leyladi’ was not excellent.

Sometimes the media has nothing interesting to publish so instead they slander artists and ruin working relationships between others, but I must say Shereen handled it very well!
