A Valentine's Prime ... and who better to kick off this prime than Tunisian singer Saber Al Ribai! He started off with Agmal Nisa' Al Donia, accompanied by Abdallah from Saudi Arabia and then sang Athadda Al Alam accompanied by Saad from Lebanon and then sang Izzet Nafsi with Mohammad from Jordan.
The 1st tableau of the night is a Spanish inspired theme with Diaa in the center in a Golden Spanish dress.
Then Ahmad and Bader joined Diaa with an Arabic song, Wala Leila by Amr Diab.
Then it was time for the nominees to join the students on stage.
Khaled sang Gulli Meta, Fawaz continued the same song and Zaher did Saharouni el Leil by Ragheb Alamah.
Star Academy 3 star Joseph Attieh came to the stage with his popular song La Trouhi and he was joined by Mohammad and Adnan.
The second tableau is a Thai theme ... full with a Bhudda, temples and Thai dancers.
After the tableau, Saber returned with his new song Al Tayer, he was joined by Mohammad again.
Michelle playing on the piano and joined by Saad, Diaa, Abdallah, Amal and Nader. Each student sang part of a different song either in Arabic or French.
As for Friend of the week, this time it's Saad.
His prize is ... next prime all attendance is from his town Berja.
Next up to sing is Bader and Shahinaz with a duetto. The song is originally sung by Marwan Khouri and Carole Samaha, Ya Rab.
Then Iman, Ahmad and Shahinaz did another duetto originally sung by Ragheb Alamah and Elissa, Betgheib Betrouh.
Then Adnan and Asma did another duetto done originally by Shireen and Fadel Shaker, Kol 3am.
Academy's Angels are back! Amal, Amaal and Mirhan did Nicole Saba's song Ana Kida.
Joseph is back with another one of his popular songs; Mitl Ennahli.
He was joined by Mostafa for this cool Fares Karam style song.
At this moment, the audience voting has stopped!
The next tableau is inspired by The Three Musketeers! Mostafa, Adnan and Mohammad are in the center of this tableau and they did Rami Ayach's song Khalini Ma3ak.
Joseph performs again ... alongside him sings Saad.
The final part of the 4th prime started with Saber Al Ribai performing his song, El Ghorba. The song is a creative mixture of hard rock guitar playing and traditional Tunisian Mizwed sounds!
Then it was time to see who the audience chose to bring back ... audience voting mostly went to Zaher with 67.91%
As for the students, they chose to bring back Khaled.

Good by Fawaz! I wish I could say good-by tonight to 10 more as well. I am not being wicked, they are just not good enough. As the season is exceptional by the low standard I have been curious and have watched the daily reports and, somehow, am beginning to like them all(!); but, singing on the stage is another thing and, regrettably, a lot of these students are just not able to do it right. The voice and singing cannot improve significantly in just a couple of months, it is impossible. Apparently some are putting in more work and understand the StarAc is not a summer camp; yet, it is still not enough ...
The best students this prime were Shahinaz, Saad, Mirhan, Abdulah and Mohamad. It is not unexpected, as they are a cut above the others, and all but Mirhan will go to the final. Unfortunately for Mirhan the LBC rule is that all finalists must be from different countries.
This prime Shahinaz is showing some ease on the stage as she is becoming more comfortable. All the top female students in the past seasons were careful and holding back first few weeks: Bahaa. Amani, Hanaa, Shada - respectively 1st to 4th season - they were all in the beginning like Shahinaz. She is definitely sticking out as the best one this season.
I would like to see Saad as the second, but, because of the voting system the Khaleeji votes will bring Abdulah there.
In the tier below the leading group are Ahmad, Mustafa, Amal-B and Asma; all others are behind. The little group that does not sing in Arabic - Nader, Diaa and Zaher - I believe is just a "filler," partly as this season recruiting viable candidates was difficult for the LBC (one of the real reasons for the show delay), and, these will get an "honorable discharge" when their turns come, as in the past. I do not see why it should be otherwise, as this is a pan-Arab TV show.
The easiest way to cover inability to sing is to do it in English, which is good for howling (= holding a loud high-pitched note), and, for pretending a style. That is what Nader does, in the American country style, and is becoming annoying. Why did he come to the StarAc instead of going to Nashville? The basic test - those who can sing can do it without making noise - he cannot pass. Nader has received attention very early in the season (1st in top-5), got an expensive gift - all signs that he will be released, as all in his position in the past were (by the 10 prime). I see him as a cute guy (no doubt, all teenage girls like him) and have nothing against his singing - if he does it at some other place, like the US, for instance.
As for Zaher, he should be a TV announcer; will not last long. For Diaa there is still no clue ... That should come from the primes and evaluations. If the students believe that off-stage affairs can help in their survival, I think they are wrong and waisting time; perhaps like Asma with Adnan, the silly bint who should chuck the guy and work on her singing day and night.
There was a "heart-braking" scene last year when Mme Mary, an old hypocrite (though nice) like the other "profs," tells the sobbing Iman (in Fr.) "This is a competition!" My foot! What a rotten pretense! All the students are evaluated and re-evaluated before they ever appear in the StarAc, and there is a ranking order before we even see them. Little modifications are possible along the way, but, why should the LBC take risks? It is their investment and they want a show that will be interesting for the majority of viewers and profitable. If some students can profit too, by starting a career - so much the better!
Therefore, if we pay attention to the LBC clues (keeping in mind their bottom line, the profit), and to the merit of the participants, their presence - or absence - in each prime, like this one tonight, then, it is not hard to see who is heading where. Hate or like the eliminations that is not important. We should get more relaxed about the ranking and concentrate more on the performances and the music!

I totally agree with Abdulaziz in many things he's mentioned..and mostly with the annoying howling of Nader like he said..really can't this guy do anything more than lift his mike up and start hownling..he did the 1st time singing with Cheb Khaled and we all loved it and I even got the goosebumps..:D..but really he's got to stop it now :S
There are 2 contestants who really amazed me tonight..Mohamed..who I could'nt stand at first..but tonight he was the star..he even got to sing most of the songs during the Prime..The other major surprise is Abdallah..wowwwwwwwwww..his voice is amazzzinggggggg in English..I really think that he should stop singing in Arabic and go on with his English singing..woowww really..!
Saad and Diaa are such a beautiful and cute couple..really I'd like to see them together all the time..so cute!
Guys..have mercy on Merihan..she's done nothingto deserve this mockery on her..I think she's adorable and cute..besides it can happen to anyone y3ni..it's not that huge!:D
we're not mocking her.. we're only expressing our sympathy.. and I personally think she's so brave to not let it get to her like that and go on as nothing happened.. she's my fav. female contestant from the very start.

This prime was sooooo good. I loved it!! Some comment's:-
-Mohamed & Saad were the standout's in this prime. They both did amazing! I think Saad is gonna be top 1 next week.
-I love the 3 angel's!!! Amal B stood out to me. I couldn't take my eye's off her.
-Diaa' singing that french song....BAD BAD BAD!! She massacred that song UGH.
-Zaher getting 79% was one of the highlight's. Go Zaher!

Great Charisma, great voice....needs to work on his arabic...will go far.

Nice voice, but annoying personality and needs to work on her stage presence.

Needs to go, sorry..but hes one of the weakest.

Great charisma, nice voice...basically will go far.

Worst one in the academy, doesnt have voice or looks or acting skills...really really needs to go.

I only watched the show twice. comments:
joseph attieh was amazing but he needs to lose shi 20 kg
mohammad: i love his voice (the best of all), he looks like shit though (fixable) - i think he can go really really far on the show
saad: i was impressed, but he needs to fix his stage presence - a lot. I think he might be goin pretty far on the show
amal b: innu she has a good body bas her face is over-rated. she sounds like a fart (heard her sing with nawal l zoghbi??) We have to give her respect for being the first starac student to actually DO SOMETHING on stage. i dont think she'll be nominated anytime soon but i doubt her goin too far unless she fixes her voice.
amal m: I liked her in the "angels teezi thing". But her dancing is over-rated. Innu i'm a dancer myself..she's always out of beat in the primes. she looks "special" but a little old. can't really comment about her voice (didnt hear her).
Shahnaz: I liked her voice. But i wanted to jump into the TV a shake her so hard coz she looks lost on stage. She might be the next AMANI. She has to work soooooo hard bas i think she's goin far.
Asma: Get lost. She's so annoying on stage.
Adnan: He HAS to leave very soon. He's terrible. No looks, no voice, NOTHING.
Mustapha: Voice is just fine. He has to work A LOT for his stage performance coz he simply sucks on stage. I'm aware that some ppl find him cute bas i think that he looks like a kid on stage. I think he might be in top 8 or sthg bas he's not talented enough for finals (unless we see the mouhammad attieh scence again).

Dia: She looks good. Voice is ok, but i failed to find the WOW thing about her voice to say the truth. My mom though thought that she's really talented. I think that she will be later faced by the "gharbi v/s shar2i" saga.
Ahmad: no talent
Mirham (or whatever she is called): She looks ok. Didn;t recognize anything about her voice. I didn;'t like how she looked pissed when she tripped innu she should've smiled and sung like a real star. Instead she had this "i'm about to cry look on her face".

Guys: If some body make a comment, don't tell him OH are you jealous? like some body named Khoultoum in this Forum. Listen: even if you make it to the finale, it does not mean any thing. You remember that Tunisian girl “Baha” from star academy 1 was a good looking girl, good voice. We don’t see her that much. That “Joseph” who won a season (I did not watch) is still straggling and even his songs are not that great….Wining Star Academy it means just a start. You need to work harder. When people give their opinion it may mean some thing….
I still believe that those two Amals have no chance.
Amal Tunisia: As I first said her face looks like a man, you need to be cute to be a singer (her voice not great).
Amal B: looks too old even if you say that she is 19 years old. Her voice is sucks. To be sure listen to her when she was dressed in read with Michael was playing the piano (in French song I think), the other song with “Nadia” when her guts sticking out with that black dress and she was jumping like she was drank……
Any way we have more weak people this year than great people.
hey loulou you can't say that josephs songs are not that great his songs remained in most radio stations number 1 so don't talk about something you don't know and you said you never watched starac 3 be honest next time and making it to the final means something and winning it means everything it means you are liked and joseph won with the highest percentage you would have known if you watched and next time if i were you i would't say a word about something i don't know.
p.s nader and shainaz will be in the final they are good looking and have a nice voice from all.
about who will go far.. Iman won't lat any longer.. but I can bet u anything she'll be the first to take role in a movie.. I know I'd love to see her in a movie rather than stage!

you make the same mistake as almost all the "blogers" on this page, and generally on this website, regarding the StarAc; you are just too subjective. What is the purpose of arguing about who likes whom? Of course, that is your right, to tell it "to the whole world." But, dear, do not get carried away to much; do not forget the boss of the show is the LBC, not the voting public (because they choose the nominees). So, if you stay subjective, do not get too disappointed if Nader gets dismissed by the 10th prime; alas ...

I don't like how Asma acts, but come on; to have a nick such as "I HATE ASMA", I personally think that it's crossing the line(though you have the right to do it). And be honest: if Asma were Lebanese or Egyptian, would she be hated soo much on this forum? Please think about it, and stop judging students by their looks or character, it's the voice that counts! If their wouldn't be a 24-channel nor Dailies, how woud the students be judged? They wouldn't be judged by their character or looks, but their talent! I read so many good comment about Nader, about him being the best; he's good yes, but not the best! So many awfull comments about Asma (and sometimes Dia): that hurts my feelings! Yeah sure, I don't appreciate the way Asma acts, too childish, but think of some childish comments you can read about her on this forum!
Moahmed was definitely the star of the prime!! Mohamed has been my favourite from the beginning because I could see his potential. His voice his unique, his looks are great, and he is a very entertaining performer to watch!!! I hope people can begin to notice his strengths! Go Mohamed from Jordan all the way . .

The web forums are virtual, not quite real, there is no "gravity" there, as there are no consequences for your actions, no punishments and rewards for what you can yell to others; a paradise for teenagers! On the other hand, it is like a group where there are many voices each telling something at the same time, all having a monologue, some catching the "sound bites" and, therefore, a very lonely place where you can even scream your lines, but, generally, each one is alone. Are the on-line forums preparing the very young users for a selfish alienated world as a replica of the American culture?
In the comment above Loulou mentions Bahaa, from the 1st season. You may remember her, or you have watched her in the primes? The gorgeous Tunisian young woman apparently did not have a single flaw: great on the stage, great looks, great voice. My god, her singing was so good she could keep up with Foulla (or Fella), the Maghrebi legend! Well, because of the voting system the winner that season was a guy from Egypt. After the season Bahaa made a CD, was a guest for a short time on all TVs, got married, got children, got some weight, and, all but disappeared ...
It is natural to wander how is that possible. I know the competition in the densely populated world of the popular music is savage, and if you do not stay afloat all the time others will squeeze you out. When the 4th season was over I was wondering what was going to happen with the students - in my view the best StarAc "generation." That is how I came upon this website and was very pleased to find out that Waleg had more information at one place on the follow-ups of the StarAc students than any other site (known to me); and it became a routine for me to read the StarAc news once a week.
then started the current season, and I kept on reading the new thread. In the 2nd prime guest was Shada, and her presence lighted up the whole show! The song she did with the group of new students, the "Asmallah," I heard before, also with Shada, and thought it was an Iraqi folk song - it was so good and authentic. It was a shock for me to discover right after the show that the song was composed(!), and that Shada sings it - only her! It was great to see that she is actually beginning a career and probably is not going to disappear soon, like Bahaa did.
Then came an article on the website by the guy called Karim that really stirred a lot of readers. You must have seen it. The article was calculated to provoke, by nitpicking on superficialities to say nothing; but, I just "tripped" on it, like others. It was just intolerable to keep silent, not so much because I wanted to defend somebody, be it a new "star," but because of that awful mentality of making small grudges, of nagging, of making a nationality an issue, all what you have noticed too. Why should Arabs have these family fights all the time? That is tiresome, if nothing else.
This site does not allow political and religious subjects, and I'd finish with what Shada said in one SMS session: "Ana iraqiya maghrebiya ..."

I don't like that some times teenagers base their choice on the look more than the voice. Did you watch "Americain Idol" last year? "Sanjaya" who can not sing for nothing ,girls loved him? Even "Simon" could not do much!

the "bit" I did not mention yesterday is, actually, the major thing(!) Just a month ago Bahaa had a come-back concert in Tunis! She sings better than ever! As if her voice has improved "on the edges," does not have that very slightly "metallic tinge." She has lost weight, but is not like 4 years ago; I'd say appears better than in the StarAc-1. It is common knowledge that she and Amani have been the hardest workers in the StarAc; that's why I think that she was not in the StarAc just to become "very famous" (as many students this year told was their motivation, in an LBC interview), and find a suitably rich groom later on, but is now rather on the way of restarting her career (what is not easy). She is also opening a new website, under the Bahaa Alkafy dot net (cannot give you this in the right form as this site does not allow references).
