Hakim sings for the U.N

Hakim

Singers going into politics seems to be a new fad that seems to be taking the Arab world by surprise. The newest singer gone humanitarian/ politician? Hakim! Yes the singer has been invited by the United Nations to sing at their annual celebration of its setting up in New York. Hakim is not new to making political statement and the most prominent of his gestures was his duo with Don Omar. Hakim who was apparently angered by the treatment of black football players on the French football team decided to perform a song about racism.

Don Omar was an obvious choice for him as he is a ‘dark skinned’ artist whose parents suffered from discrimination in Latin America. This song carried the message he will take with him to the concert he will perform in honor of the U.N: before you congratulate yourself for reaching the stars consider the damage you have left behind in Iraq and Lebanon. A truly honest message and something that has gained this man a lot of respect in my eyes.
