I know that it is no new show, but I just recently began watching the American medical drama series: House! It has finally reached us in the Arab world on the free to air satellite channel MBC 4! The series follows the life of the cynical but brilliant Dr. Gregory House - played by Hugh Laurie - and his endeavor to save lives by curing bizarre and complicated symptoms. The show is oh so different from any medical series, in my opinion, the cases it deals with and the impersonal attitude of Dr. House towards patients and diseases is new and exciting.

The show has won many an award including an Emmy for ?Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series?. Dr. House is the Sherlock Holmes of medicine and makes amazing observations about patients knowing their real reasons for coming to hospital without them mouthing a word. Although at times you may feel lost because of the medical jargon all is explained in due course by Dr. House or one of his team of young diagnosticians. I advise anyone who enjoys a bit of thrill and wants to be wowed by the beauty of medicine to watch House!
