Iraq has seen several changes ever since Saddam was arrested and the country infiltrated by American soldiers but now the Iraqi parliament have decided to change the flag. What many of you might not know is that the ‘Allahu Akbar’ (God is the Greatest) that appeared on the Iraqi flag was written in the handwriting of the ex-president Saddam Hussein and the three stars represented ‘unity, freedom and socialism’ Saddam’s slogan.
Therefore it is no surprise that several factions in the country wanted to wipe this memory of Saddam and the Parliament responded accordingly. Instead the flag will now carry the words ‘Allahu Akbar’ written in the Kufi handwriting and the three stars will be removed. The Ethnic Kurds are obviously very pleased with this and although they have their own flag have agreed to use this flag when holding international conferences. What do you think of this alteration of the Iraqi flag?

actually the 3 stars of the flag have got nothing to do with saddam. before he even came into power the flag has always had the 3 green stars. The only addition he made was the 'allahu akbar' so it makes more sense to remove that from the flag instead of the stars!

I think that money should be invested in rebuilding and first in feeding the poor people in Iraq before solving an issue of a flag .... a new flag won't fill an empty stomach!
susu, i don't support this flag not even a tiny bit, i will allways hold and wave the old flag, simply cuz i grew up with that flag..
but to correct what u said, the three stars point to Wihda , 7ureyya, and Eshterakeya...which are the three goals of The Arab Baath Party..
and that's why they were removed!
I will always like the original flag- the one with three stars and no Allahu Akbar.
I agree with Susu, the Allahu Akbar came from Saddam, not the stars it makes more sense to remove it.
So, I don't like this flag and think they should bring back the old one...
But, I agree with Cupcake too... Use the money (if we have any left) on something useful...

Take God out of the Flag. God should have nothing to do with politics.
this is a good beginning to show iraq desicive love for their mother land.i am too very happy to see it from iraq people .try your best for your independence .it is evident that once u will get your former hegemony.but i am pesmistic to see such day .by ....by.
