Ahmed El Fishawy has never really been one to ‘stay low’ and he seems to go through these phases in his life which are obviously very public. He went through the ‘religious phase’ a while ago with a program that encouraged discussion about Islam and religion between the youth. During the airing of this show a lot of people gained a lot of respect for the young man until his very public affair, which lead to the birth of his daughter. And now the next phase for Ahmed is well: rapping! He plans to release a new album that contains several rap songs which he created along with his friends.

The album will be released next summer but in the mean time he will be preparing video clips to accompany some of his songs and he plans to release the video clips before the album. Obviously he has now put himself up for some serious criticism, after all, rap is often perceived as the most overt form of American and Western culture. Will he make it in the music industry? Is his attempt to popularize rap in the Arab world a good idea?
