kevin carter Pulitzer prize winning photo

This photo was taken by Pulitzer Prize winner, photographer Kevin Carter, in 1993.
I came across it while surfing and couldn't just let it pass without sharing it and what meanings it holds.
The photo in itself is heart-wrenching, but the story is more horrid.
A Sudanese toddler stopped to rest while struggling to a feeding center, while a well-fed vulture has landed nearby ... waiting!
Kevin Carter couldn't do more than chase the vulture away ... he couldn't help the girl because he was told by authorities not to touch starving victims, as they may have diseases.
Kevin Carter committed suicide after winning the prize ... parts of his suicide note reads: ...

"I am depressed ... without phone ... money for rent ... money for child support ... money for debts ... money!!! ... I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings & corpses & anger & pain ... of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen, often police, of killer executioners ...".

When you sit to eat, think of the starving children around the world ... be grateful for every piece of bread you put in your mouth.
Be very grateful for the chicken, meat and fish you can afford to enjoy!
Try your best to put this little toddler between your eyes ... when you easily throw away the left-overs in your plate! ... Don't throw away the left-overs in your plate!!!

For all Muslims around the world ... the Adha Eid is coming up ... please, remember the most important purpose from it ... sharing with the poor and helping others.

Oh! My God! This is horrible!
Yes, the world needs to learn how to appreciate the simple pleasures we have! It's a blessing that i can eat all the things i take for granted!
I take fruit for granted, bread for granted ...
Ya Allah!
I thank God for everything and hope those in need will find the held they need ...

I saw this picture on a show called 'Inta Meen' on Abu Dhabi channel. It was such a heartbreaking picture. We just don't realize how lucky we are...people in Sudan are suffering. We need to learn to appreciate what we have and thank god everyday because we are lucky. This picture made me cry it's so sad.

It is really sad to see children suffering from hunger and thirst, when you know that tons of food are daily burned and destructed. Especially in developped countries, who have to deal with food surplusses. The only thing that the West can do is destroy them. People, would perchance ask why the West does not give all those surplusses to hungry ones. The anwser is really effortless, enterprises will just say ' who will pay the shipping costs'? Helping destitute people is inadequately a question of money.

The silly photographer should have threw his camera down and picked the baby up, & if he was too sissy about it he could've wrapped one of his items of clothing around her. Just goes to show how deluded, insane & selfish we can be. There's no such thing as not being told not to touch children (they are not rats!), ridiculous. Remember when Diana kissed that African kid with Aids? I thought that was depicted as a breakthrough & influence, guess again. Just goes 2 show what some morons do 4 recognition. And then he commits suicide coz his close friend died...how clever. Touching ill hungry baby bad, killing oneself good...if that's Western ideology then God help us & insha'allah these african kids will be in the highest of heavens. In this picture there is no cruelty, the bird is just one in a food chain, it's those who see & choose 2 ignore in this case the photographer! He could've at least got the food/ water for her & threw it near her law khayif 3ala shababo that he got rid of 4 even more pathetic reasoning for Gods sake what a total fool. And everyones praising him...What a world!
