A lot of people argued that the reason Shatha Hassoun won in the latest season of Star Academy was the fact that she represented Iraq and that because of this she got immense media coverage even from the CNN. However, it seems that Shatha only represented Iraq because she didn’t have a Moroccan passport.
This changed recently when the Moroccan government decided that seeing as which Shatha had lived in Morocco her whole life that she should be granted the Moroccan citizenship.

According to Shatha’s father, Shatha was able to fuse her Iraqi and Moroccan backgrounds together and that this is what made her closer to the audience. As for Shatha’s plans she is going to Lebanon soon in order to record her first album after performing in several concerts during Eid.
Do you think that Shatha won because of the turmoil in Iraq? Was it fair for her to represent a country she didn’t live in or have any loyalty to?

Snd, Shatha won & had all this popularity because she has a gorgeous voice, charisma, elegance, education & very deserving of the title
Morocco is proud to give her the passport..She is loyal to both Morocco & Iraq, and she is loved by all people in the Middle-East, Europe, USA & around the world
We are all Lebanese in the USA & adored her & cannot wait until she releases her 1st song, it will be a sold out
wats the problem with having a moroccon passport? shes half iraqi, half moroccan, and both sides deserve equal recognition, which she gave, shatha is very proud of her iraqi side and she represented it very well and deserves the support she received be it from iraqis or others. people supported her for who she was, for her talent and outstanding performances, not merely because she is iraqi......thats a very lame thing to base your votes on.

whether she was represented under Moroccan or Iraqi, we would have voted for Shatha the same, because we vote for the voice & qualifications not the Nationality.Apparently, from the quotidiennes, Shatha loved both countries equally & called Amal Bint Bladi. She was axious to make the Iraqis happy due to the misery & suffering they are enduring at this time
From all Staracs, we never had anyone like Shatha, & probably we'll never have one like her, who moved the international coverage as well as the Middle-eastern .
On top of her Tarab voice, she has class, charisma, elegance, intelligence, education...you name it......
If she represented her self during the academy as Morrocan for sure 100 percent she could not have won. It was very clear that it was a game played by LBC and CNN to show the world that the Iraqi are enjoing themselves and voting . Lbc have mixed politics and Music in Star academy4.
But I agree she has good voice without charisma, elegance . Actually, I prefer to hear her voice without seeing her.
Shatha won because she has a beautiful, strong, and highly emotional voice. Although I loved Marwa, I admired Shatha's talent and was extremely happy for her when she won. Her voice is amazing. May she have continued success!

they have commercials on lbc saying if u wanna try out go to lbc website so that would mean the show is on they just have to find contestants and it always starts in december
