Ever since we were in Pre School all the boys like green and all the girls like pink but I for one have never asked myself why! A group of researchers at New Castle University decided that it was time to find out the most preferred colours and investigate the reason behind this preference. And so 200 men and women were gathered and were shown two colours and asked to spontaneously choose one.

The colour chosen most often by both genders was blue whilst most females chose shades of red (e.g pink)! Now that scientists had research that these colours are the most popular, theories began to emerge attempting to explain these choices. Some scientists claim that we like blue because it is linked to purity and good whether. However, other scientists claim we have a gene that determines our colour preference.
