Egyptian cinema has been around for over 100 years now, thousands of movies where released during those years. Some are one of the best movies you will ever watch. But Egypt is also known as the first Middle Eastern country to begin with TV serials and soap operas. Year after year in Ramadan, Egyptian shows where the most watched. These days competitions have risen, countries such as Syria have been trying very hard to come to Egypt's production level. Last year, over 30 Egyptian show's were aired. Show's like Al Andaleeb, Seket el Helaly, Hadrat el Mothamham Abby, and last Ramadan's most watched show Hadayek El Shaytan were all aired and saw great success.
As for this year, Egypt is seeing a great amount of dramas making it one of the best years of Egypt in the TV business in a long time. Shows like these and many more will be available for all arab viewers this Ramadan:
Malek Farouq
Sultan el Gharam
Omaret Yackobien
Hanan wa Hanin
El Masriya
El Daly
Kadyet Ra'y 3am
Yetraba fe 3ezo
Awlad el Leil
And many, many, many more.
Actors like Egyptian international star, Omar el Sherif will make it back to the silverscreen in Hana wa Haneen. The highest budget show of all-time in the middle east, Malek Farouq will be available on MBC and Orbit. And the long-anticipated tv based on the novel of the same name, Omaret Yackobien will air on Future Tv.
As for El Daly, it revolves around a more political and spying aspect, based on the years of Anwar el Sadat, Nour el Sherif plays a huge role as the minister in the Egyptian government during those days.
Remember the show that has been to this day hailed as the best Middle Eastern show of all time, Layaly El Helmeya? Well this year a new series set in the same timeline will be released. With Hashem Selim, and Ghada Adel. El Masriya will be available for people to watch on Dubai.
As for Yehya el Fakhrani, he is back for another year, with Yetraba fe 3ezo, a comedy/drama that's perfect for Ramadan.
Youssra is also back on Dubai and ART with Kadyet Ra'y 3am.
This Ramadan will prove once again that Egypt is and has always been the best country in the middle east when it comes to dramas.
P.S: Please don't think I meant any disrespect to the Syrian or Gulf TV shows, they are also great shows, and I have personally watched some of them.

What channels (plaural intended) is Omar sherifs tamseleya appearing on please if anyone knows?
I have a criticism. We wait all year round 4 those stupid tamseleyat & they bombard us with them in Ramadan when we should not be focused on tv & its actors. Why don't those fools appreciate their viewers more rather than engaging in silly competition during 30 days (most precious days) of the entire year. They used 2 consider tv for the rest of the year, now they r just being selfish.
egypt is da best in everything el 7amdollah .. and thnx so much waleg but u've 4gotten alot alot of temselyat like tamer w showqaya 2 and ragel w set setat and more & more !
I just would like to comment here,
well of course we cant deny that the egyp. drama has been successful for many year, but let me give my opionon,
as ive seen the egypt. drama's years after years i dont find any changes in their stories..its the same issue every time..
either you see "sa3eedi stories" or series about the difference or the levels between the rich & the poor. well its nice bt if y see it year after year constantly.. you'll get borred.
thats why i think that the syrian drama's soo great nowdays. they present to us the issues that re more realistic..the stories that happens during our days..tha we live..and they ve such a big imagination with creating their stories..its just amazaing..i personally used to watch the egyp. series but honestly i got borred so now days i only watch the syrian once!
I understand what you mean Tamara. And yes over the last few years we've never seen anything new. Even I thought we needed some refresh. And thankfully I think this year they have presented to us some very good shows.
Youssra's QADYET RAY 3AM talks about a women and two of her friends who are raped on there way back from home at night. Finally we've got a TV show that shows us what happens after things like these happens and how these women fight with all they've got to get the people who did this to them.
Another good shows is the adaption of OMARET YACKOBIEN to a TV show, obviously Omaret Yacobien talks about how Egypt has changed over the years, and they also open new topics that have never been mentioned before, such as same sex sexuality.
EL DALY on the other hand is also a new kind of drama that we haven't seen in many years. NOUR EL SHERIF plays the role of a Egyptian minister in the days of ANWAR EL SADAT. He disagrees about selling a small portion of Egypts land to outsiders, and since then he is always chased by death.
And there are also many new topics that Egypt have opened up this year. I'm too lazy to keep writing. :)
And BTW, OMAR EL SHERIF'S show airs on FUTURE TV, Sam.
BAB EL HARA is definetly the best show....
tash ma tash is greaaaaat, i can't imagine ramadan without it!!!
3afrit el quersh is not bad also talks about egyptians in Iraq after the war and stuff
but u guys have to watch bab el hara oh my god i love it, simply the best!
I tried watching it BAB EL HARA before, I did not really enjoy it. Maybe because I don't understand the language too well (the syrian accent). But I have heard it's a great show, and some day I'd love to watch the full trilogy.
I've been watching a great show named AL MASRIYA on Dubai. Wow, it's a great drama. It keeps reminding me of LAILY EL HELMEYA.
Yehia el Fharkarani's Yetraba fe Eezo is too funny, I love it.
My goodness WALEG, I don't know why you find it necessary to shove your egyptian nationalism and politics down our throats...You said something to the effect "that Syrians are trying to catch up to Egypt's production level"/...WALEG look around, who are you trying to fool.....nobody is watching egyptian soaps nowadays except egyptians....over the last decade egpyt has done its darndest to copy Syrian soaps..
Let me give you an example of this..in the mid-80's egyptian soaps were almost filmed exclusively inside the home..Syrians soaps started shooting on the streets and old quarters and then all of a sudden egyptian soaps are doing the same....
egyptian soaps used to recycle the same boring romantic trashy stories, the Syrians come up with novel ideas and then Egypt follows...
right now the khaleeg is not buying syrian soaps because of politics..because syria is against their man Senora in Lebanon...
everything comes down to politics in the middle east..I mean that Bharaini girl was not the best -looking...and then the lebanese girl came in second and the egyptian girl third...
wait a minute aren't bahrain, egypt and lebanon all allies ..right now...my goodness..polictics
Ya... Which was the first country to ever start filming opera's in the first place???
Are you telling me Raffaet el Haggan, Laily al Helmiya were not shot in some streets? Egypt has been and always will have the best ACTORS, DIRECTORS, MOVIES, AND SOAP OPERA'S. And only Egyptians watch these shows... seeing how Egyptian shows are always the most on TV, while Channels like Dubai and other one's only have 1 Syrian? Ya....
Anyways, these shows are too good for people who have issues like you.
*And NOT only Egyptians watch these shows... seeing how Egyptian shows are always the most on TV, while Channels like Dubai and other one's only have 1 Syrian?
George,
I'm not Egyptian and since 'Rafat Alhagn' and 'Layal Alhmaya', i rarely watched any Egyptian TV series myself, the best TV Series that until this day i admire are: 'Nihayat Rajol Shogaa', 'Thekrayat Alzaman Alkadem', 'Asyi Aldamaa' and 'Muluk Altwaf' and 'Gnkeez Khan' ...
As you can see all of them are Syrians and i consider them some of the best TV series ever aired on TV.
Directors like Hatem Ali and Nagdat Anzour deserve big respect for their outstanding work.
We are here on WALEG to show different views and tastes :)
We have to stop be proud of our countries!! i mean who r egyptians or syrians or others...all are arabs speaking arabic...
A GOOD SHOW IS A GOOD SHOW EVEN IF IT WAS FROM MARS

yosra's story is the best i think and my father likes gamal soliman's serie..and mom likes sa3d el dally....every one from us like something!!
by the way i like that syrian serie betaa3 a7md bin fadlan....

We all know Egypt is the most popular shows dramas and movies since abdul wahab alife...that's why syrian and lebonan taking advices and learn from them cause their talent.
love egypts though am not masri../
Hi everyone. Even though, I'm not Muslim (yet I hope all Muslims are enjoying this fasting and growing closer to God, similar to our Nativity fast and Lent fast and the other Christian holiday fasts throughout the year). Um, I really enjoy the series that are placed on tv. First off, Ill be honest I'm Syrian. But that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the Egyptian series. But unfortunetly the past you could say 3 years or so I haven't been enjoying much the Egyptian series place on tv during Ramadan. Um, i've been feeling like they are "normal" or the usual tv series placed on tv throughout the yr, unlike the ones Syria has been producing lately, they have been in my opinion just excellant in quality of production, color, plot, actors, etc. Just great. "Bab El Hara" places us in the time period of the early 1900s in Damascus and the small towns (You can feel it and live it in a way just by setting your eyes on the screen and getting mesmorized by the action and the actors and all that is going on). Um, the historical tv series have also been magnificient, placing us in the Arabian history and conquests, etc. Um I have realized that many of the Egyptian series have welcomed Syrians unto the screen as well, Syria has welcomed others as well, and so has the rest countries that have been producing tv series for Ramadan. Thats nice to see the unity in that. I have realized though a majority of the tv series placed on tv are of Syrian productions, actors, etc. But then Ill be honest there are some syrian tv series that I find not to interesting, yet over all my opinion is that Syria has been doing an excellant job, hopefully it will continue this way, and hopefully the rest of the arab countries continue to grow as well and do well too. Um, take care everyone and God bless.
PS. This is just my opinion I liked to share it.
george is sooo jealous of egypt :D:D:D
Just a clarification Omar El-Sherif isnt Egyptian hes Lebanese or Syrian so ya.. n another thing Malik Farouk is a Syrian actor and director is Syrian and was in fact one of the best Ramadan mosalsals. Third no1 is jealous we just state reality wen ppl make comments tht are stupid - Bab l Hara beat every mosalsal mentioned here.N we dont need someone to teach us talent- we got talent on our own mashllah! .. n if Masr is OM El-Donia .. Beirut is Sita .. N the Sham all together wipes Egypt out! .. N Masri if u think inou a million mosalsals make u good guess wut 3ini it doesnt... we dont need to prove ourselves we know ourselves- ur actors all thy do is talk shit baout the actresses and actors comin to egypt wen isa shway btboos ijron for them to come n act for u guys- the bias isnt coming from me or any other person except the egyptians it makes me sick and Masri u started a fite on the page for "who has bab l hara fever" ur the one whos clearly jealous and cant stand seeing someone doing somethin better then u- u guys need to get over urselves - ur pyramids are a milltion yrs old and ur mosalsals are too - n qadiyat ra2i 3am i watched it n it was boring i was jus interested in nowin wutll happen in the end but nowin how typical it was i got lazy n skipped it.-Another thing unlike u we watch everything and listen to all accents and appreciate them - ths were the egyptian population is at fault u guys think ur too good though for those who kno egypt and its people in many cases know thts certainly not the case!
