I was fortunate enough to be watching Rotana when Wafaa El Kelany returned with her highly successful show Ded El Tayar. The main guest of this show was Nichan and this friendly interview turned into something that looked a bit like a war. Wafaa was quite honest and asked Nichan about the one thing everybody wanted to know: how does he feel about the accusations that he copied Tony Khaleefa. But Nichan became quite defensive when he heard the question and turned the table on Wafaa’ and said that most shows he watches today are actually copied or influenced by his show ‘Maestro’ including Ded El Tayar.

I think it was quite cowardly of Nichan because he made Wafaa become occupied with defending her show that she didn’t get a proper answer for the question. That wasn’t the only interesting part of the interview, Nichan had a surprise for Wafaa he once again took the seat of the interviewer and asked her about how the mere mention of her father made her cry. And indeed Wafaa began to cry with passion. A highly intriguing interview and one that I’m glad I watched.
