Amal Hijazi

Lebanese singer, Amal Hijazi has recently returned from Egypt where she received an award for Bestselling Album, Baya al Ward, which according to some sources sold more than 100,000 copies in the country. Amal had also witnessed success when she released her Khaleeji single, Nefsy Nefhimny, which gained immense popularity and its video was one of the most played on the Rotana music channels.

Despite of her success, Amal is often considered a low-rated singer at Rotana and she has previously complained about the treatment she receives. In fact it really is true that Rotana has hardly giving her any attention.

When Amal was signed to Music Is My Life, she released a blockbuster hit, album Zaman in 2002. Zaman became one of the largest-selling albums in the Arab World and the hit singles, Zaman and Romancia topped charts throughout the Middle East. During this time, Amal became probably as famous as Nancy Ajram and Elissa are today.

She released her third album Bedawwar A Albi under the production of Rotana in 2004. Bedawwar A Albi failed to achieve the same success as Zaman and poor marketing was blamed for the album's low sales.

Her fourth album Baya al Ward was well-received in many Arab countries despite of the controversies. However, Rotana didn't pay any attention to the album and Amal released only two singles (Ba'ad Sneen was a stand-alone single and was filmed a year before Baya al Ward's release) , the title-song and Baheb Nuoa Kalamak. Surprisingly, Amal had to pay for the song's budget out of her own pocket!

It is no secret that Rotana isn't paying Amal the attention that she deserves. So, the question is: Should she really consider leaving the company?
