Gifted Algerian singer Fella Ababsa recently held a press conference in Cairo during her first visit to Egypt in over a decade. While Fella did not disclose the reasons for her ban from the country often referred to as "Alam El Fan", she did mention that Syrian singer Asalah and her husband Egyptian director Tarek Alarian were instrumental in her return. It is worth noting that Fella is not the first talented singer to be banned from Egypt for vague reasons, Syrian legend Mayada El Hennawi was also banned for over a decade.
On a brighter note, Fella announced that she is extremely comfortable with "the green". "The green" being the ubiquitous Rotana logo, imprinted on everything from CDs to private jets. "I say to you Prince Walid and Mr. Salim, I am with you till the end! This is my home that nurtured me and I've grown quite attached. Hopefully my contract will be renewed as soon as possible." Fella also mentioned that Lebanese director Said El Marouk will direct her next video clip for the title song, "Lamma Ra'ayto". This comes as a relief for Fella fans who have endured mediocre video clips for her beautiful song for much too long!
