2 Flags for Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia Flag

The title sounds strange, but it sure is somewhat true!
A serious decision has been taken by the Saudi authorities to come up with a second flag for Saudi Arabia … one that presents the most significant aspects of Saudi Arabia as a symbol of union so that it could be used in sports events and other occasions.

This statement was given by Sheikh Abdallah Saleh Al Otheimin, who felt that the current flag is being degraded by events like Star Academy & other similar programs.
It seems the Saudi citizens are glad to hear this news, because after seeing a singer or dancer holding the flag & dancing around … they would rather have it changed!

HMM, how would the new flag look like? Even if they change it, people will continue 'holding the (new) flag and dancing around it' because a flag is symbol of the country you belong to. No mather what person it is, singer, dancer or even a sportsman.
    Conclusion: it is useless.

you can't control the people who's holding the saudi flag even if they change to new one especially the events like star academy, superstar, sport events and other similar program because the flag is representing the country during the competations...

I personally believe, that a new flag would be a great Idea for Saudi Arabi.. since its the only country with words written on it.. A flag should represent a country, and not the religion of ones country. I don't get why do we write la illah illa il allah on a flag, if the flag should represent a coutry and not a religion.. Every country around the world, has colors, shapes, pictures, trees, or anything that represent something about a country and not just words.

I think its a good idea. There shouldn't be religious words on a flag. I think the solution is to switch: Make the current flag the Saudi symbol, and make the current Saudi symbol (2 swords & palm tree) the flag, but maybe with green and white borders, or something similar.

    Dear Zeid,

KSA is not the only country who's flag represents religion. Look at the flags of other Arab countries for example, mostly you can green stripes in the flags or a crescent moon. These are symbols that represent relgion (Islam).

    Greetings Faysal.

    Zeid Hreish,
Saudi has the religion on their flag because they are proud of their religion and it's a symbol of the country because in Saudi their are many Mosques(Masjd)and it's all about religion etc... It's a very good country which represnet Islam and plus Makka and Madina el Mnawra is in Saudi so how do u dont want the religion to be on the flag... It quite good :D
P.S Im not saudi.. Im from the Khaleej..I wont tell which country I'm from because then you know what happens.... bla bla bla..

    Sara
